Manager Of The Season - Redknapp

I think Ancelotti deserves some credit for the way his side have mauled teams this season.

There's been no getting in front of a poor side and just shutting up shop like Jose would have done. They've properly thrashed teams.

Thought spurs had thrashed a side this season as well

Yes and Chelsea just did exactly the same, to the same team on the final day of the season, not to mention a few other games where they put more than 5 goals past the opposition. Harry, does not deserve, in fact the only people who think he does deserve it seem to be the Spuds fans.

And the people who voted for him and they are the ones that count ;)

Besides half the people who posted on this thread said Roy H when its been mention its based on Premier League performances several times:p

Yeah I noticed the Roy thing, but at first glance I thought the same, after noticing this is just on league achievements I still think Ancelotti. Redknapp has done a good job of being fairly consistent, but I don't think he's been manager of the year good.

I guess you're right though, the voters are the ones that count, whoever they were, and moaning about the injustice on a forum won't change the outcome. :p

Still, good luck qualifying Spuds. ;)

If any Spurs fans are interested, here's the Champions League coefficients for next year.

For those that don't want to go cross-eyed reading it, Spurs will be seeded for the CL qualifier and therefore can't face Werder Bremen, Zenit St. Petersburg, Lyon or Sevilla.

Didn't Platini or some football official want to get rid of seedings in the last round of qualifying for the CL?

Wow, talk about bitter. You'll thank Harry when the Spurs contingent in the England team perform at this summer's World Cup.

He probably does but it's too late for next year's competition now.

I'm not bitter at all. I'm just miffed at the fact a manager has achieved less than 3 managers above him but still gets the prize. Carlo Ancelotti is this years real manager of the year for the way in which they challenged Man Utd and for the most part had a great season despite the few slip ups. Tottenham have plodded along and half they time they haven't even looked like coming fourth, such as when Fabregas single handedly destroyed them at The Emirates. I've no massive grudge against Redknapp, I just feel that all the Spuds supporters that have put him on a pedestal are totally blind.

I probably will because I root for Germany.

If you're going to talk about single games, why not talk about how Spurs absolutely destroyed Chelsea at White Hart Lane? How many times did Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool beat Chelsea this season?

Remember that Spurs were bottom of the league when Redknapp took over. He's essentially taken the same squad into the Champions League. That's impressive no matter what part of London you're from.

Not quite. UEFA wanted more sides from smaller leagues to be in the CL so instead of there being 1 3rd round qualifier, it has now been split into 2 with League Winners playing each other and runners up (+3rd and 4th places) playing each other.

So instead of the Champions of Romania being drawn against 4th place from Spain etc, they'll now be playing against the Champions of another smaller nation, and 4th place from Spain could potentially face 4th place from England or 2nd place from Holland etc.

Which was more or less the same squad that was finishing 5th before Ramos took over.

I'm not saying Redknapp hasn't done well, he has, but the fact that Spurs were so massively underperforming when he took over makes his work look better than it actually is.

I'm very surprised too, thought I was the only one :o Was sure they'd be unseeded (even said so on here), been quiet about it since though ¬_¬

Can somebody explain why they're seeded as it's making no sense to me at all, they've never played in the CL?!

It gets more confusing. I thought that you get a coefficient based on previous performance (within a certain time frame) in a particular competition. So when we got to the semis last year we're still benefiting from that for next season's draw.

It's weird that e.g. FC Twente have under half the coefficient of Spurs yet have played in both this year and last year's qualifiers. Should they win their qualifier, Spurs will also be in pot 3 as opposed to pot 4.

It's not just based on CL football, it takes into account other European competitions (possibly even a small % is based on domestic form too). I'm surprised they're seeded too though; can't recall them doing anything of note in the UEFA Cup in the last 5 years.

I've mentioned before that it's a rubbish way of ranking sides; Shakhtar Donetsk got more points from winning the UEFA Cup last season than Barca did for winning the CL.

edit: Just have a look at 2006/07's points:

1. Espanyol (UEFA Cup runners-up): 35.2700
2. Sevilla (UEFA Cup winners): 31.2700
3. Liverpool (CL runners-up): 29.4860
4. Chelsea (CL semi-finalist): 28.4860
5. AC Milan (CL winners): 27.9360

Seriously, wtf?

i think the future is looking good for spurs, we are moving forward with a new training ground and possibly a new stadium.
