Manchester United vs Liverpool 09/01/11 and other 3rd round FA Cup matches *SPOILERS*

Did he say it was all Woy's fault?

/sacrasm off, what did he say?

Basically it wasn't a penalty in his funny way, and do you just get a red for leaving the ground these days rhetorically.
Credited all the players effort.
Oh and Webb actually let play go on for a few seconds before blowing and was influenced by OT maybe?

Not thrilled with our performance today to be honest. Not sure whether the early penalty (which shouldn't have been) changed the players mind set but I would have liked to see us punish a 10 man liverpool side that is currently 12th in the table. Fletcher I found to be pretty poor today, a number of his passes were just off the mark and it killed us going forward at times. That and Kelly put in a solid performance for Liverpool, never really seen him play before but he looks like a decent prospect.

Regardless a win is a win even if it isn't in the manner we would have liked.

Exactly, just like I don't appreciate someone insinuating that as a United fan, I was beaten with a stick as a child.

I don't mind you, or Pigeon Killer - I rarely post in this forum, but I do read a lot and you two appear to be more rational about results concerning your team and as neutrals.

As above. We get plenty of small arguements on here and the fine line between what is banter and what isn't sometimes gets crossed. However comments regarding Munich etc are few and far between (almost non-existent on here) and a comment from 1 idiot shouldn't be used as a stick to beat all other supporters of that side.

You get a straight red for leaving the groud with two feet yes :) Ask the players that have been sent off recently :) Don't see how Liverpool can complain about that.

It wasn't a penalty, shame, but you see those given 99/100 times as the Guardian said. I'd be annoyed if the shoe was on the other foot tbh.

As I've said, major plus for Liverpool is their back four looked very good.

Poor UTD performance today to beat a 10 man Liverpool team by a horrible dive.

Pool fans cant be to disheartened from that display? Not great but a bit of an improvement at least.

Come on Leicester!

4-0 Chelsea
Anelka

I would laugh at city but as a Chelsea fan I can't :p

Edit: 5-0 Chelsea
Sturridge second

Worst thing today was checking the Spurs score on the BBC website, Spurs 0-3 Charlton it said :( Was looking forward to highlights later till I saw it was a mistake :p

Liverpool were horrible upfront, Utd were woeful in midfield, hard to draw any conclusions for either team as it was impossible to know if say Pool's defence was good or Utd were just woeful.

Fletcher, Carrick were woeful, Nani seemed to have a bet with someone pertaining to how few passes he could get away with today. Giggs, he looked almost good at points today which makes a change. Utd's midfield was truly horrible overall though, conceded posession constantly, very poor passing, created very few real chances.

Only seen one replay of the penalty, missed the first 4 minutes of the game, looked, soft at best, dive at worst. Red card was clear as day, off the ground, caught the player, landed with his full force in his studs, no question.

Tiote's yesterday I thought was far less of a red, he was off the ground but he hit the ground , hit the ball and THEN took the player. Gerrards was unquestionable, Tiote's was a judgement call more for the reckless nature of what could have happened in his case. The reason you red card tackles like Tiote's is even when not malicious if you mistime that kind of tackle, you end up with Gerrards tackle. Basically you punish the reckless nature of that Tiote tackle to try to prevent the Gerrard type tackle.

Bit of a rubbish game really, Torres looks uninterested, Gerrard looks very poor for him, Maxi/Babel/Kuyt don't look anywhere near good enough for the league let alone a top half team.

Utd, what can you say, they need a whole new midfield really, and probably another striker, maybe an old experienced one on the cheap hoping for one of the younger guys to get good in the next few seasons.

This thread is pretty much the epitome of why I don't bothering posting in this part of the forum anymore, so many people more interested in winding others up than actually talking about football.
