Manchester United vs Liverpool 09/01/11 and other 3rd round FA Cup matches *SPOILERS*

I'm a little surprised by the venom directed towards Berbatov by Liverpool fans. He went down easily it's true - but compared to Torres and Gerrard, the guy's a saint. So the hypocrisy on show is a little rich (especially given that there was a foul in there anyway). I also noticed his left ankle turns over in the step he takes post foul.
But you lot and ITV are making it out to be the worst decision ever awarded.
Anyway, MUFC did not play well but in recent years we have become increasingly a pragmatic team, usually content to just do enough for the win.

Well if there was ever to be a result that prompted a turning point in form, I guess that would be it.

2-1 up but a rubbish first half so far. At least both of our goals have been nice, lovely little set piece for the second. The one result I do not want is a draw, win or loose, but sod a replay.

But your squad is enormous, surely it wouldn't be a problem?

From Liverpool forward Ryan Babel on Twitter: "And they call him one of the best referees. That's a joke smh [shaking my head]."

a few minutes before hand:

From Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand on Twitter: "To be in the fourth round is what we wanted and what we got, such a great feeling to win against one of our fiercest rivals. Definite penalty."

:D

The idea that the ref lost Liverpool the game is just laughable quite frankly. The most pathetic excuse you could come up with. I say Berbatov dived myself but that was after 30 seconds! Entire game left to play.

Again, some people need to grow up.

Funny thing today. Lawro on the radio. The guy who blasted Hodgson at every opportunity for not getting results. When asked about the possibility of a loss for Dalglish's first game in charge, he said "You're only as good as your players." :p

thought Kelly played very well, especially given his age/ experience

It may not have been a penalty, but given that two others could have been given in the second half, its a pretty fair result

It was a straight red and fully deserved although pretty stupid also.

Evans did ok, better than I was expecting, but Rafael was excellent in defence and attack, Nani was pretty poor but did enough (maybe not fully fit after his thigh injury) he did show flashes though. PIG was shakey on a couple of occasions but the save from Aerrelio? free kick was decent (as was the kick itself)

Nah, that's fair Baz. I think I was posting with my mind elsewhere.

To clarify, I thought there was an improvement in effort, particularly in defence.

However I also believe that in midfield and up front, the players lacked belief or the will to really put United under serious pressure. I do think we could have gone on for another 90 minutes at exactly the same pace.

However, like you said, KD took control this morning. It was a good result considering - it's just a pity that a controversial penalty would decide it.

He did? He was constantly defending Hodgson as far as I can recall.

MOTD he'd always have a slight pop, once he was gone he said it was the right choice etc. Can't stand the bloke myself anyway.

2-2!!!!

Englands numbe.....nevermind.
