Manchester United vs Liverpool 09/01/11 and other 3rd round FA Cup matches *SPOILERS*

Supes, you know it makes sense.

Tiz tempting. Might go for the tuxedo t-shirt and jeans for the night part anyways :)

They controlled the game. At least the closing stages anyway. Liverpool never looked like scoring for the entire 90 minutes by my viewing.

It's easy to control against 10 men but United never really looked dangerous and a shadow of the team that beat us in September at OT. Against 10 men you would expect a United side to go for the jugular.

It shows Ferguson should retire really, he has lost the killer instinct he once had. I hear Roy Hodgson is after a job too...

Maybe. I don't know how he could still have the desire to win another league title. I think he should go for one more CL cup and call it a day. Need to buy some world class players in the summer first. Will be hard seeing as how they are in debt and all. Bebe was abit of a gamble at £8 million. Will only know if it pays off in a few years time.

Man Utd were awesome with Tevez,Ronaldo and Rooney all at their best during the 07-08 season. Going to be hard to build a team like that again.

Or maybe it could be that liverpool was offering so little there was no need for Utd to get out of 2nd geat as they have a more important game next weekend?

This is the impression I got. Then again, had Gerrard stayed on, the game would almost certainly have been different.

Chesney is immense, Djourou is turning into something very special, I could quite happily punt both Arshavin and Bendtner in the crotch, and the Leeds away fans were surprisingly well-mannered and entertaining. I've never cheered a penalty against a team a division below as emphatically as I did on Saturday.

Oh, and the Emirates is a bit nice. :)

Refreshing to hear a positive attitude from a Liverpool manager once again. Kenny gave the impression he's not going to take failure lightly and will actually come out fighting if need be. None of this defeatist bull**** Hodgson instilled in the players

From Liverpool forward Ryan Babel on Twitter: "And they call him one of the best referees. That's a joke smh [shaking my head]."

a few minutes before hand:

From Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand on Twitter: "To be in the fourth round is what we wanted and what we got, such a great feeling to win against one of our fiercest rivals. Definite penalty."

:D
Is it compulsory for a footballs brain to stop developing after the age of 6?

wum/wumming - what is this?

Synonyms: G|mp. ;)

I watched the final 10 minutes of the Man Utd - Liverpool first half and all of the second half and it was pretty dire stuff, occasionally it looked like the game might spark into life but that hope was fairly quickly snuffed out. Liverpool defended well and Man Utd seemed to just about do enough to maintain their lead, whether it was a penalty or not is fairly unimportant to how they played afterwards.

Just got back from the football/library, and oh dear, what a dull game.

The penalty decision was horrendous, didn't look a penalty in a million years live, and I was watching it on a very small screen...

The Gerrard challenge however, the commentators were defending it but it was a truly awful challenge, lunging, two-footed, no way he should have stayed on the pitch.

To be honest, even if the penalty was a bad decision, sending of Gerrard was the correct one and I think that ultimately killed the game for Liverpool.
