Mantle Feedback/Bugs

Nice little video that Matt, huge difference in spikes on Mantle :) Don't think I'd jump back to AMD just yet, but when the next gen come along and I'm ready for a change its gonna be tempting.

Fired up a couple of games tonight and had one client disconnect (right when music plays when your ending the map) then the next game played a full map - woohoo!

One day it's gonna play flawless.
 
I gotta say I played a round if zavod with mantle on my 7970s and it was pretty locked at 120 fps (I have the in game limiter on) 1 or 2 spikes the whole game. Totally playable. I'll play some more tomorrow but if it's the same as tonight I won't be switching back to DirectX
 
Judging by the last few posts the last BF4 patch has the Mantle goodness working well. except for me, why me? :(
 
I'll give it another go. 1st time I tried it is was very smooth until I next booted the machine then it was laggy so went back to 13.12's as I knew 7990 wasn't supported but wqas impressed with the glimpse I got.

I think shanks is running 290's xfire and it's the xfire part I find interesting that it's working for him. But again maybe they have concentrated on the R series as I guess AMD feel that those owners may have purchased with mantle in mind so put more effort into getting R series running first.

The 290/X runs XDMA xFire, everything runs through the PCIe, much better, faster than the traditional xFire Bridge. that might make the difference.
 
I see good point. Though 7990 has cards on same PCB so guess the bridge is on the card. Dunno how that relates to traditional xfire bridge and XDMA
 
I'll get some off screen footage tomorrow, bf4 hasn't felt so smooth man.
I removed 14.1 before installing my new 290s only reinstalled 14.1 after I seen bf4 patch notes, played couple games yesterday and it runs great so far.
 
Just tried it again and the CPU spikes are massive making it laggy. Selecting D3D still with 14.1 and still laggy but the frame graphs are completely different between the two. Much better under mantle if it wasn't for the massive CPU spikes out to 200ms+

Back to 13.12's until the next BF4 patch or 14.2's

I am glad it's working for some though and I'm more excited over the fact that people 'feel' the difference and not just measure it in fps as it 'felt' smoother for me when it worked first time.
