Marangoni Tyres

Remember that the profile is a percentage of the width, not a measurement. The examples in Firestars post would be near as makes no odds identical in rolling radius.

I already stated the difference in post #16, its 40mm, which equates to around 5mph difference! not identical by any means...

On topic, i had Marangoni on the back of my MX5 when i bought it, good fun tyres! if you wanna go everywhere sideways. You get what you pay for with regards to tyres in most cases. In the rain they were quite dangerous to the uninitiated, snap oversteer caught both my brother and dad out on them.

I was responding to firestar's post where he was talking about 18's in both sizes.

So why quote me? He was making a different point anyway, he was questioning the choice of oem tyre size from the factory, the speedo is calibration is based on factory choice at the design stage.

Im not going to continue ruining the ops thread, but you seriously think they will use a different speedo for one edition of a model rather than just use one off the shelf and change the tyre size? that we will have to disagree on another time in a discussion on costs and economics.

Most dials are motor driven ourdays controlled by the cars electronics using a speed pulse, whilst it's true that the tyres fitted across the Mazda 6 range do have very similar rolling radius it would be easy for Mazda to reprogram the MPS to run 225/40 or 45/18 tyres without issue.

Do you understand what the word calibrated means?

I use eTyres (and have done for a while with various vehicles) and last time I had 4 18's (Conti's) for the Focus ST for £500.

Hmm, conti SC3 for mine from there are £205 a corner fitted (245/40/18), when did you last buy them?

I have Vredestein Sessanta's on my 330i with the 18's, £135 each, very good tyre too unless provoked in low temps on wet roads, they won't budge in the dry though.

Beautiful, mines an automatic so that can be a bit annoying, or i just use the semi on it which is good fun. It'll kick the back out in the wet if you provoke it, has a fair amount of power.

Comfort, it's lovely, great place to be in, loads of gadgets and toys. Very expensive though, 21mpg and reliability of certain aspects of the car are a bit iffy, i.e cooling

Vredestein all the way for much, such a terrific tyre. There was a point where they got a bit cocky and were priced along with CS and GY but now they've stopped their shenanigans!

Thanks for that, always nice to hear from owners of my potential next purchase. 21mpg, is that around town?

It's well worth paying the extra for the CS3 / CS5 and ASY1/2, much better tyre in the damp.

You don't say.

On the E46 I went through sets of:

F1
PS2
CS3
Vred
452

And found the best to be PS2. Worst 452. Best value Vred as I found them to give the same grip as the CS yet the CS were a quieter tyre.
