Marussia car crashed during testing

Stable != fine. She could still be completely screwed, it just means she's not getting worse... doesn't it?

Means it's not life threatening, meaning the chances are decent that her life won't end. As for her injuries at this point only a few people know I presume.

Not really, could even mean she is being kept alive by a machine.

Yeah stable is a very vague medical term that just means not imminently dying. But there have been some suggestions of more positive information in the last half an hour.

There's a clip on Youtube of the audio from the accident, anyone else heard it? It sounds like it didnt accelerate a lot but enough to do some serious damage with what it hit.

It wouldn't have to be fast to have killed her, still can't believe she is stable to be honest. Still got everything crossed.

What an awful piece of news, hope she's okay..

Here's a close up, looks like the point of impact was below the visor.

Why they had the lorry parked with it's tail open next to the temporary pits.. seems like an oversight from health and safety :/

I suspect even 20mph or so would do a lot of damage with an impact like that.

Absolutely.

A friend of mine slid off his GSXR on a patch of ice at less than 30mph, and went face first into a small street sign held up with square steel posts. He was wearing a top of the range Arai racing helmet and it shattered the hell out of it, broke his jaw, eye socket, skull etc. They had to keep him in a coma for a week due to the injuries.

It was amazing really, there's so much energy if you hit a solid object even at low speeds.

It's vague to us lot while speculating but it usually suggests the patient's condition is no longer deteriorating. In most cases surgery cannot be carried out until the patient has been stabalised. So the term does offer some hope.

As someone else said, stable could mean she is on life support.

Really terrible that that lorry is there at all, its common sense. Goes to show what kind of team Marussia are, awful on the track and don't know what they are doing.
