Marussia car crashed during testing

A sad day indeed :(

HSE will be all over the person that left the tail-lift at eye level...

Took the words right out of my mouth.

As a truck driver I can tell you a tail lift is either left all the way down or folded up/retracted

Someones going to get crucified.

I was only there at the weekend for the airshow.Never knew they tested F1 cars there as well. Doesn't seem a suitable place to do it.
Hope she pulls through ok.

Yeah, Caterham (or Lotus Racing as they were known at the time) broke the record for youngest F1 test driver in 2010 (Nabil Jeffri at 16 years old).

Yup. Last year they ran the T128 with Teixeira *I believe* and at the same time announced the Caterham purchase. *blagged goodies ahoy! :D*

This year was just the aero test with Gonzalez so none of the big brass were there *apart from Marianne who is Head of Aero, and is lovely.* On and Anna from PR is utterly wonderful. She's the reason I got in the 'paddock' area. :D

What about when you're unloading from the back of the lorry, wouldn't the tail lift be level with the floor of the trailer?

Wait, what risks does it bring?

Well first and foremost you have the problem that it can impede visibility. What happens if something hits the screen, and then shatters / marks it in some way that the driver can't see ?

What happens if the curve of the screen impedes the drivers depth perception ?

Then of course you have the problem of removing the cover in the event of an accident. It will obviously need to be secured to prevent the cover from flying off and into a driver behind. But those same measures could then mean the cover would not be removed in the event of a fire, trapping the driver in a burning car.

Theres tons of pros and cons to enclosing the driver ...

If thats the level of injury we're talking about it, this could be another felipe masse incident.

He was never quite the same after that horrible accident.

I seriously doubt she'll be back in an F1 car after this. Fingers crossed for her, terrible accident.

Sadly I'm thinking the same. If those Spanish reports are correct that she needs to go to theatre for a head/neck/spinal injury it's very serious. From the images and reported speed at the time of impact (40mph) I'd be very surprised if she didn't had long lasting or even permanent spinal injury. I really hope I'm wrong. :(
