Marvel Heroes

Been playing this a lot the past 2 days, trying to get deadpool to 30 for the teleport thing. 24 atm.

It's a real handy skill if you combine it with the lock-on, means you can teleport around whilst always targeting the same mob.

To lock-on to your target hover the cursor over the enemy until it turns red, then keep fire pressed.

Patch update today!

Yeah honestly I'm not really interested in that, it just looks really ****ing cool :D Think once I get to 30 I might play some wolverine. See quite a few of them flying around chopping things up, seems pretty fun. Kind of want nightcrawler too when he releases, liked him in movies/comics.

Also guessing todays patch is why I can't log in? Telling me internal error or something.

To make up for the lost time, we'll be live tuning rarity, special item find and experience to 200% until Tuesday, so people can catch up and very likely exceed what they would have achieved. I realize this doesn't make up for everything, but it's something we can do.
Might have to use some of those SIF/XP tokens and push that to 400-600% and get few heroes to cap :D

haven't played this in a long time and I must say im abit lost and want to start again but don't have any characters but a level 28 thing... which is strange because he was level 30 when I played last xD.

Bumping for justice. If you were put off by the problems this game had around launch, don't be. It's been improved tremendously and now it's a great little ARPG. At least one new character is being added every month, too; next up is Moon Knight in about two weeks, followed by Doctor Strange and then the Winter Soldier to coincide with the movie.

Couldn't agree with you more Jed, it's also the first game that truly works as a ''free to play'' model.

You do not have to part with a single penny as all the content is available with no restrictions on instances/PvP/Terminals/Levels.

Decent re-review regarding current status and progression GameRevolution

Thread bump has made me log in.

Well I say login, 232 updates run so probably won't be ready until this evening :p:D

One thing that put me off was I could t get groups for the dailies. Is this fixed? Also are low level zones still populated?

wondering how much it's changed, last time i played it was a massive grind fest and still never unlocked any characters i actually wanted to play, and even if you get one you have to start all over again kind of off putting before you even start, i still enjoyed it until level 25-ish then there was nothing new to do at the time.

In all fairness it is an aRPG, all you ever do in these type of games are grind levels/cash/equipment/prestige levels/loot etc etc

You also now have new area's to level up in and explore, with new difficulty levels. They introduced beta PvP, group missions like X-Defense and Asgard all of which are free and available to all players.

^^^ You don't need to group for anything at low levels, and you can go straight from rolling your character into X-Defence 1-9. I know people with high XP synergy who have taken a character from 1-60 in under three hours just by grinding X-Defence up to level 20 then Legendary Quests thereafter.

There are also synergies, I'm not sure when they were introduced. Each hero you level to 60 gives a bonus to levelling XP gain on all your other heroes: 30% for the first, 20% for the second, 10% for the third and fourth and 5% for every one thereafter, plus an extra 1% for every hero you level to 30 and 3% for every level 50, up to a maximum of 200%. This stacks with buff consumables and event bonuses, so if you save some XP boosts and wait for a double XP weekend you can get as much as 500% bonus XP.

Each hero also provides up to two ability synergies based on their powers, one gained at level 25 and the other at level 50. For each hero you have you can select up to ten other heroes to synergise with, and he gains small bonuses (usually 1-2%) to various stats and damage types. So your level 25 Jean Grey could get 2% energy damage from her own synergy, another 2% and 10% bonus XP from your level 50 Cyclops, 2% chance to deal Hellfire damage on hit from your level 34 Ghost Rider and so on.

Oh my, Nightcrawler is great fun! :D

I grabbed him with the 400 splinters on release and agree he's superb fun, probably the best class/character of any aRPG I've played.

Totally devastating when attacking from stealth and can slip away from danger with ease. I love Blink Strike, press one button and watch everything on the screen die !!!!!!!!

I'm currently trying to get every hero to at least 25 so I can best my synergy settings, plus it's a bonus RIF/SIF weekend :D

i played this on release and got a bored (though i did spend real cash money on it). judging by the feedback from you guys it seems to have got better, will check it out again next week I think. Wolverine was my main I think.

edit: ah it appears there is a new launcher and i need to update it. anyone know if I can install it without having to re-download it all (15GB)? support page seems to suggest it is mandatory.

There were two different installers but if you play it via Steam then it will simply update. A total of 16gig for the full patched client.

Leveling up alts is much easier btw, took Nightcrawler from 1-40 in 12 hours doing X-Defense and Legendary Quests.

As such, I will also be blitzing everyone I have to 25 for synergy bonuses.

I had my first play for a couple of hours today since launch and I found it had really improved a lot.

Got to play Cap from the start which was good and I'm not sure if Cap is just OP but it certainly seems to have been made more solo friendly. Caps shield bounce attack would wipe a screen full of enemies and the bosses you used to have to at least double team or die (or at least struggle greatly) went down embarrassingly easy. Thinking Taskmaster and Hood there.

I like it but hope the whole game isn't just a solo grind now as I really enjoyed the grouping last time round.

Also like how I can save the splinters to get new Toons! Will be giving this a good go again and would recommend for any returners.

Every class is going (or has gone) through a total re-design, so some of the characters like Capt have been boosted to feel more like a 'hero' capable of smashing faces in with ease :p.

This month Daredevil and Human Torch had their re-designs go live.

Upcoming Hero Reviews:
January: Captain America and Hawkeye confirmed.
February: Daredevil and Black Panther confirmed. Black Widow 90% likely.
March/April: TBD, some combination of Cyclops, Thor, Thing, Storm, Hulk, Scarlet Witch and Wolverine.
We've started working on ultimates / signatures for a lot of these heroes, some of which will take over a month to complete.
Note about reviews:
The main point of hero level 52 reviews these days is not damage or survivability. Those are handled separately and now in the same order of magnitude for every hero - with weekly small tuning adjustments based on hard data and "feel".
Instead, the goal of level 52 reviews is now:

  • What does this hero need to be fun
  • What would be cool to add?
  • What powers can be improved in some way
  • Does this hero have some kind of group utility for raiding / group content?
  • What additional tools does this hero need for single target/AOE/spirit maintenance/etc
  • Is there something over-the-top we can add to this hero as a ridiculously amazing ult or signature or general power?
