*** Mass Effect 3 ***

I've missed out on the first two mass effects, but have had the 3 brought as a present. Should I grab the previous two before playing or just dive in and play catch up later?

I would get the first 2 as they are very story driven games, you could probaly pick up on the plot quickly but you would be missing out by not playing them in order.

Well I just completed the game.

Now I see what the fuss about the ending was all about.....

To think I was just starting to like EA again after they saved SSX (one of my favourite franchises ever).....

I take back what I said about multiplayer. I managed to scrape enough credits together to get a Spectre pack, and got a freakin Salarian Engineer, and he's an absolute monster, I'm always top score or close second.

I also got lucky and got a nice Phaeston rifle for him, which seems to make mincemeat of everything unarmored.

Only been playing bronze though.. need to grind some more items before I move up ^^

Myself, Safron and Uberginge have been playing the multiplayer a fair bit and can usually make it through Silver fairly easily! We still have times when we wipe due to getting swamped by reapers etc, Saf is usually pretty good at carrying the team though :p

Is anyone interesting in being our 4th for some Gold action this weekend? Random people generally don't quite cut it as their is no comms or class balance :D

If anyone has a spare 40 minutes, check out this video on the endings. It's well worth it and explains why the whole thing doesn't work better than anything else I've seen. Hope someone at BioWare watches it.

Note: Massive spoilers for the ending obviously!

Ok, so I am roughly 24 hours in now, doing every single side mission I can do before continuing on with the main story. Have 3 side missions left until I am forced along the next part of the main story.

My problem is this, before hand, I was barely half way on the rediness meter (that green bar that shows your count on armed forces or what ever).

Anyway, last 2 days, I have been playing multiplayer, all sections now have 90% rediness, this has increased my single player green bar thing to the max... Does that mean I could technically go through the rest of the game without touching another side mission and still come out with the strongest possible outcome if you know what I mean?

If so, that is not cool.

Yes, and you are correct that it is not cool. What's worse though, is that you can't unlock the "best" ending without playing multiplayer (or one of the silly ipad games) as there aren't enough war assets in the game even if you play "perfectly"

That is absolutely cack then! What a terrible way of doing it. I put pride into ME2, making sure I made everyone so happy, doing all the side missions felt meaningful, as though I really was putting time and effort into making the outcome as good as possible.

ME3 feels dry, bares, unorganised and repetative...

I am VERY dissapointed. 6/10.

I thought the best ending was the
merge synthetic and organic life?
I got that without multiplayer or any external apps, pretty sure I had full green bar and only 50% readiness.... Though I did play the game using a imported ME2 character.

I guess it is subjective and personally I thought that was the worst ending. By best, I meant the one that requires the most Effective Military Strength. The green bar is useless for that, as it maxes at 2800 EMS. You need 4000 EMS to unlock all of the endings (or 5000 if you don't have enough Reputation points for the last encounter) but at 50% readiness there are only enough war assets in the game for about 3800 EMS. It's quite easy to hack the game files to fix this though (except for PS3 players...)

The best ending is:

Destroy option and having 4000-5000 EMS depending on certain choices. Shepard wakes up on Earth. Unfortunately, you can't get this ending without playing multiplayer.

Agreed.

It works better if you believe that the Starchild is lying about the destruction of all synthetics to try an trick you into chosing Synthesis (which is just silly space magic at its worst) and that the Geth and EDI survive the shockwave. The game doesn't provide any evidence either way.

It's extremely easy to edit your save to get all the EMS you need. Don't play the co-op if you don't want to.

Download the save editor here. Go to Squad>Player>GAWAssets then choose an ID then adjust the strength value. You can choose a save to edit, then create a new one from it, leaving whatever saves you want untouched.

I believed the evidence that all synthetics WERE destroyed was that in the Normandy crash sequence, Joker steps off the ship with your LI rather than EDI.

If you choose Synthesis, EDI is always with him.
