*** Mass Effect 3 ***

Anyone else tried out the MP yet? It really seems like they couldn't be bothered to redesign things for the PC. The chat function doesn't even work in the demo so you only have voice coms to communicate with and since there are absolutely no in-game commands like you get in other team based games, communication is almost non existant (so far).

The lack of actual numbers on weapons is a bit annoying too.

I found the demo multiplayer really fun, but i was doing it with 2 friends over mumble. Really can't wait to see what the other maps will be and the other enemies. Heres hoping we can fight some asari commandos or Krogans :D

I think its a mode to play with friends really instead of randoms.

Yeah I didn't even realise there was a MP on the demo till I was told about it by a friends clan so after some BF3 we went on it so the voice coms were helpful but it is seriously lazy if the chat function doesn't work and the lack of in-game commands. You could argue there isn't much time to type things but thats why they should've added something similar to L4Ds voice system.

Can see theres room for a lot of variety. Enemy is obviously defaulted to Cerberus on the demo and you'd kinda hope there are more special weapons available instead of just the missile launcher. I can see it being quite a major grindfest for much of its life though. Every weapon and upgrade has 10 levels and your chances of actually getting them in the packages are pretty slim. The changes in difficulty between the 3 are pretty extreme. Bronze is easy once you get the hang of the game. Silver renders some skills/weapons almost utterly useless. Gold goes even further and throws in some insane numbers of Atlas and Phantoms.

What exactly do you mean by numbers on weapons? There are 3 different weapons of each type, each upgradable up to level 10 (assault rifle will be the only one with 4 weapons due to that DLC attached to books/action figures/etc.). Each weapon type also appears to have 3 different upgrades - haven't seen anything past level 5 of those yet but I suspect it being possible.

He may be referring to hotkeys.

Can't comment with any reliability myself as I have not and never intend to play the MP, I would rather eat a pile of freshly produced excrement pie.

Or you know go and play TF2.

Why? IT's a fairly competent survival mode tbh.

Why would you need hotkeys though? 5 pulls out the rocket launcher, x swaps weapons, that's pretty intuitive to me.

I'm talking about actual stats. You've got damage, recharge speed, etc for the skills, like Sticky Grenade and Incinerate but no way of knowing how much damage your Katana shotgun does or what the clip size or rate of fire are. Seems a bit indecisive... especially given how many tiny upgrades you get, you've no idea what difference they actually make. I assume they are making a difference but so far the only difference I've noticed with the Scimitar Shotgun is that each rank gave it 1 extra shot in reserve.

Because it has nothing to do with the reason I like Mass Effect.

I'll give you a clue, I don't play it for the combat mechanics. Let me say I don't think they are by any means bad, however they fit a single player experience.
