*** Mass Effect 3 ***

The game is getting judged pretty much how I'm saying it, the game itself is good, but you'll be disappointed by the ending.

Here's one thing I don't like: I can't freely walk around the Citadel like in ME2, I have to have a loading screen for each section of the place

tbh, you could only roam the Citadel freely in ME1, ME2 was thoroughly constricted by comparison.

And ME1 was brilliant, then casual gamers....

They sold out for ma$$ market appeal and managed to alienate the very people who purchased and enjoyed the original game. Oh wait they did exactly the same thing for Dragon Age. EA I have no doubt had a part to play in this market refocus, but BioWare walked the chosen path.

Greg Zeschuk said himself only a few months back regarding fans perception that EA were destroying BioWare, "I always chuckle because we are EA, we're BioWare -- we're both, and we still have huge autonomy in terms of what we do."

BioWare's past titles have always contained great story telling, and decent Artwork, but with today's gaming industry greed and BioWare's decision to pump out almost annual releases for their major IP's the cracks are showing in the quality of their products.

They need to slow down and plan for longer development cycles and get back to basics before more credibility is lost with the consumer.

No that's not a fair comparison. DA1 to DA2 was a complete change in the style, controls and gameplay for the worse. They changed the game completely.

ME1 to ME2 was an improvement on the gameplay side of things. ME2 to ME3 the gameplay and style (art, cinematics, music) remains pretty much unchanged.

Except are you saying that for the story or for the combat? As the demo showed, most of the designs and mechanics were literally just copy/pasted from Mass Effect 2 so if you enjoyed the combat of ME2, of course you'll enjoy it in ME3. You can argue that they kept it the same because it worked but I think they merely did it it avoid spending any extra money. They grudgingly added in mods/upgrades because people complained about it being removed completely.

No matter what anything thinks, this is the end of a epic story and universe that has so much potential. for many this started in the engrossing story of ME1.

A story can have an epic beginning and fail to live up to expectations. The set up from Mass Effect was excellent. The continuation to Mass Effect 2 wasn't bad, though felt a bit drawn out and it was clear that the whole idea of your decisions carrying over was being ignored because it would mean they had to commit more to storyline development that might not be seen in a single playthrough. Not a single decision you made in ME1 had any real impact on ME2. Then the Arrival DLC came out and it jumped everything forwards. I don't believe ME3 will be anywhere near as good as it could've been if Bioware/EA had any intention of making it a truly epic game.

How does the game work if you got as many people killed as possible in ME2 anyway? Isn't your squad made up of people from the previous games with lots of encounters also? So what would happen if you got Wrex, Garrus, Tali, Mordin, Miranda and Jacob killed and only survived with Kasume and Zaeed?

From what i've plated probably 8/10 it just lacks a too overly over scripted and somethings are there just for impact and not story feel forced and a feeling of dejavu over some of the choices and things that happened already in the game or previous games.

It feels like they have learnt a lot form DA2 and corrected them and people are a lot more willing to accept these things in Mass effect as the squel was already heading in this way.

nope iv only put in about 6 hours but from what i have seen already half of your squad is new chars and the other 'fan' favs or what i assume are the ones that definitely couldnt be killed at the end of 2 - all the other chars that were once part of your team you simply just see in passing. hence why it doesnt really matter if they died in 2.

Well I knew as much about the rest but surely Wrex/Garrus/Tali must have some important roles within the squad?

One thing that I'm confused about. Isn't the 'canon' storyline that Wrex was killed by Ashley on Virmire? It just seems like he's still alive in ME3 as canon.

Getting tired of missions you've just picked up sending you to a dead end because I have to find out from a third party site that "You cannot continue this mission until you have progressed X, Y or Z."
My log is full of them, let's see; can I go to this system and do the mission? Nope... can I go to this one? It doesn't have a highlighted marker, oh but I can complete it.

Never had an issue in ME1/ME2 but they've made it a little frustrating.

(Doesn't really spoil much, bunch of no name never heard of NPCs and side quests)
For example;

Citadel: Barla Von
Barla Von has provided the location of Shadow Broker forces trapped in the Dranek system, inside the Krogan DMZ. Recruit them to the war effort and return to Barla Von.
Except that, there's no Krogan DMZ yet

Citadel: Heating Unit Stabilizers
On a wiki site: "Some people might have to make it farther into the game to be able to buy this. (It is a bug, probably)" Meaning I have to just keep checking at random intervals

Irune: Book of Plenix
A volus on the Citadel needs the Book of Plenix to inspire his people. Recover it from Irune and return it to him in the Presidium Commons.
Although you get this mission pretty early on, you won’t be able to unlock the Aethon Cluster, in which Irune is situated, until you advance the main storyline.

Citadel: Hanar Diplomat
Salarian Spectre Jondum Bau suspects that a member of the hanar diplomatic staff is indoctrinated. Find evidence on the hanar in the Presidium Embassies.
Got the first piece, went mad looking for the others, wiki says you need to progress the story to unlock the trial of other devices, fun... so I have to keep checking now and again.

See where this is going? Constantly picking up mission, no indication it CANNOT be done, go to where it's supposed to be but the item isn't usable, the system isn't there, or it isn't but isn't highlighted for a quest, or it is there but the particular planet is hidden until you progress the story.

It's counter inuitive from the first two games and from the rumours of it being a short game I assume this was an artificial method of extending the games life sending people on fools errands until they figure it out.

Worst thing is, if you progress the main story too far you will FAIL these side missions, meaning you have to check between each story arc to see if they've been unlocked.. yeap, making it longer than it needs to . Even IGN noted this in their review :|

I am thankful to the person on here who mentioned always checking every room/nook & cranny because once you leave an area you can't go back and get items needed for missions, as well as progressing the main story too much will fail side missions. Forgot who it was, but thank you!

+1 important advice but damn annoying game decision to hide them away should make these harder to miss or pop them into a shop if you do.

Well I got my game today been putting a few hours into to it. So far I'm really enjoying it. I got the CE from Shopto. I just finished the From Ashes DLC. I thought it was a really nice bit of DLC. I can understand why some people might not like it. But as a fan of the series it was fantastic tbh quite a bit of lore to it.
