Origin is fairly harmless tbh. It is only when you have a problem and need to contact CS that you will want to go on a killing spree. The actual program is fine.
Gotta say my opinion is "a bit" different

- Origin wants to start up with Windows - enabled by default.
- Clicking the close button just minimizes it to the system tray icon - no way to disable this annoying behavior.
- Has "notifications" aka "annoying things that interrupt my gameplay" enabled by default.
- Has a game overlay enabled by default.
- Tries quite hard to get you to enter personal details and a photo, and share this information publicly. No thanks.
- It's yet another thing that needs a username and password.
- It's yet another thing that requires an internet connection even for offline/single player games.
- Let's not forget Battlelog, requiring a browser addon and again publishing everything about my BF3 play (and personal details FYI) publicly on the internet by default. No way to turn this "feature" off completely btw.
Bottom line: It's spyware that I don't want or need. I miss the days when I could just insert a disc, install a game and play it.
To be fair, it does have ONE useful feature: cloud storage for save-games and settings.
When I phoned EA to get a refund I had to wait 25 minutes to get through and I had to inform the guy who answered that ME3 has a standard edition and a deluxe edition, but they did refund it without any quibbles (I wanted to get a refund for the standard edition and then buy the deluxe edition). So they could use a little more product knowledge and allot more staff but they got the most important part right for me.
((( grrrrr
