****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

watched some videos of this and its hilarious so glad i didnt preorder this

i will wait 1-2 years before i get this for all the DLC and other fixes
I'm surprised the ability to create a Caucasian character won't be DLC, too. :D

OK, forgive me for not reading anything above this post but I'm dodging spoilers like a motha. Real talk - is the game as bad as the reviews claim? Particular criticisms I've heard are animations and story. The former I can forgive but the latter is the main reason I play this kind of game.

Here's just one of the many examples, compared with the facial animations from The Witcher 3:

The Witcher 3 Comparison

Yeah, it looks utterly ridiculous. There's one video that I've seen where Sara Ryder rolls her eyes during one particularly long facial animation and it looks seriously disconcerting! I've added the bit before so you can see some forward moonwalking as well! They are in space after all!

Figured out why i could not save (even autosaves were not working), my AV was treating it as rasomware doh!

I'm 3 hours in. It's not as good as 'true' mass effect games and the hatred for facial animations is just. I'm still enjoying it, and I'm loyal to it. It doesn't feel like Mass Effect, but then it's not a Shepherd story so it's never going to. The graphics are very nice - aboard the Nexus I feel like I'm at the Institute in FO4; everything is clean and shiny. The game is very buggy with animations and NPC movement, but it's not a terrible game. Currently, 7-8/10 is fair, and I'm really hoping they keep to their promise of fixing the facial animations.

I've still got the Deluxe on pre order and I don't regret it and am certainly not cancelling it. I'm looking forward to trying MP tonight. Get yourself the 10 hour trial for £4. £4 now, but you save 10% on the game price through origin.

With regards to the second video, I've been checking my game for those and in their defense, I've not seen many of them on my system. The characters popping in like that is (to me) an indication of their PC not loading the resources quick enough - I'd often see that in STALKER etc where heavy scripts were running. The faces ARE terrible and I don't often see them moonwalking etc, but they do often get stuck and flicker/twitch about. I really do think that these can be fixed in updates. Whether they actually will is another question. One can hope.

Same I've not seen a game released recently that has such a wide variety of review scores.

Probably because of the wide spectrum target audience, which has the side-effect of narking off the people/die-hard fans that wanted a decent, traditional Bioware RPG.

That and people's faces are tired from.... everything. ;)

Agree with a fair bit of this. Put in 6 hours on the 10 hour period and quiet enjoying it thus far and will be keeping my pre-order (CD Keys)

I am really liking the Combat, so much more open and while the cover system is not the best, I find it works okay in actual use. The jetpack aspect however really opens up how combat plays. The story thus far is so so, but expect it will open up as really its just getting into the game.

Not clicked with any of the characters as I did in the other games when it comes to the squad, but mat be my looking back at my past play through with rose tinted glasses. The animations are terrible though, but not a deal breaker.

News on day one patch WRT facial animations. Are we getting a new Ryder?

I hope not, animations aside, I think I'm in love with the current standard Sara Ryder - she is very nice indeed :D

Animations in that video seem much more fluid. Maybe it's a language thing? I might play it in French with English subs, haha.

I won't be playing this until I've done playing the trilogy first so we'll see what they fix with it. I know they're not related, but I never played the originals and this has prompt me to.

One thing that irritates me about ME:A inventory/CODEX (apart from the CODEX not being voiced :( ) is, as stupid as it sounds, there spoilers within the game. I have literally only just been on the Tempest briefly, and all the possible weapons mods and tech (Milkway AND Heleus Cluster) is documented? How can
Angaaran
tech be known about before I've even encountered them, and no NPC on the nexus/Hyperion have met or mentioned them yet?!

This is who they modeled her off but she doesn't match much at all compared to the male who's pretty much a copy.

Jayde Rossi, never heard of her, but hot dayum. Still though, I'm going to say Ryder is still more naturally pretty, even though she's fictional ha.

IMO, they look the same. I think that that face just lends itself better to the existing animations, but I don't think they're generally better. Certainly the Asari didn't look any better to me.
