****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

Well I'm about 50 hours in now and I've been having a lot of fun. I've had a few minor graphical glitches with shadows and a couple of small bits with the animations, but nothing serious.

Runs well on my 1080 and looks very nice.

I'd like moving around on the star map to be about 40% faster, but that's about it. It's nice to have loyalty missions back too. I've just played though 1, 2 and 3 since the beginning of the year, and I still think 2 is the best, although the Citadel DLC was great with 3 too. I have no major issues with the end of 3 and think it's great fun.

I do think some people forget how boring bits of ME1 could be if you explored all of it, and there were only 3 very short companion missions too. Plus there was just two building options for all the planetary side missions and exploration.

I would say Andromeda starts rather slowly though.

As an aside about animations, we all saw Shepard run? It's actually worst when on the Normandy in 3.

For all the people playing it: TAB exits the menus instead of having to do double ESC :)

Thanks @snips86x and @Dougsnake for the reply. Cool will give it a try once the prices are down along with some further patching. In terms of games witcher 3 runs 60+ FPS with ultra setting and hair works on at 1080 (don't really know how cpu dependent witcher 3 is tho :s)

Yep, re-use of assets was annoying but forgiven at the time because this was ground-breaking. Story made up for it and there were gut-wrenching story pivot points. I'll get flogged for saying it but I enjoyed ME2 the most. I just wish it had kept the stats and customisation options of a classic RPG.

So I'm about 15 hours in now and I'm a bit confused by all this criticism?! I've seen all these YT videos etc with dodgy animations and I can honestly say people are blowing this way out of proportion. I never really got into the original trilogy so took a gamble on this and coming straight from Breath Of The Wild too, I have to say I'm really enjoying this. My one criticism though is the amount of sub menus you have to trawl through for example it takes 3 clicks/buttons just to get out of the map back to the game.

Can't remember if it was ME1 or ME2 but one of them had a load of side content that was quite hidden away - I played through whichever game it was twice before finding it. Wasn't particularly interesting stuff just abandoned ships and outposts (not just normal mako exploration stuff) some of it just one room stuff but most people I've talked to never realised it was there.

I found that first playthrough but then I'm an obsessive, must-find-everything and click everywhere type. :p

god damn it how do you take down an architect

I has the one on eos down to its last leg only to die just at the last minute!!!!! aaarrghghghghg!!!!!!!!

The one on EOS is easier than Voeld. You should be able to use the forward outpost to restock health/ammo and take out the first leg conduit. After that, move to the Renment site behind him and use the buildings as cover. There are also health/ammo packs there. Shoot the leg conduits first then the head when the mouth opens but make sure you keep your distance from the red swarm as the discharge will drain your shields (use jump and/or evade). It can take some doing but it will come down eventually.

What's your loadout? I found that the combat profile works best with concussive shot as it deals more raw damage to them than using Biotics.

Did it first go last night wasn't easy especially when both my team mates were dead underneath its legs  quite satisfying though when he went down :D

Don't think it's that controversial mate. ME2 is commonly sited as one of the best games of all time, let alone the best in the series. It was ME1 that had what most consider to be 'pointless dilly dallying'. Andromeda however... I thought Inquisition was bad for pointless side quests.

While at the time it was slated as being an EA-led, dumbed down shooter with few remaining RPG elements compared to the original.

Personally loved it :)

This isn't specific to your comment, but people keep saying that as though it was EVERY critic who beat it down at the time. I don't remember any publication actually saying anything of the sort if I'm being honest, though I'm prepared to be wrong.

Annoys me slightly that this has become the defence for Andromeda. As though stating that because reviewers SUPPOSEDLY didn't give the first 2 a chance, all criticism against Andromeda is therefore invalid...

You can't please everyone. I really missed messing with ammunition types for example but then I'm an old fart who enjoys messing with stats and modifiers. ME2 definitely felt more fluid and fun gameplay wise but I was disappointed with the dumbing down at the time.

One thing I will say about ME1 is that the sense of wonder from opening the game with the iconic title music to landing on a planet and the eeriness of finding a isolated outpost has stuck with me ever since. You knew you were going to experience something really special, despite all its flaws. I wish I had time to do a 4th play-through, using the graphics mods!

BTW did anyone actually save Kaiden? I've never met anyone who did. Poor dude. ME equivalent of a red-shirt.

I watched TB's video that went through the menus in the game. I can't believe how clunky and badly designed they are.

In the opinion of people playing, is it fixable through mods or patches whatever?

^ And no, nobody in the world saved Kaiden!
