Mass Effect Legendary edition (Remastered 1,2 & 3)

I think its acceptable what we are getting, it was good when it came out and just needed a tidy up.

After the ME:A mess, lets hope they put the attention where real efforts are needed, into the next game.

Note that the original installs are not touched so old mods etc will work! I am actually hoping this is a good baseline for further mods.

Maybe I'm just a Mass Effect Stan but I think I'll be very happy to pay the asking price to get all the games in one place and with all the DLC (annoyingly EA decided not to release ME3 om Steam so I have it on Origin)

ME3 is on Steam. You also get a discount on LE if you own it on Steam. And the LE doesn't have all the DLC - though I doubt anyone will be bothered about the loss of pinnacle station. LE also has no multiplayer.

It is now, it wasn't when it first came out. They were trying to make their store competitive so games like ME3 and BF3 were locked on Origin

Not fussed about multiplayer, never played it in 3 as it's the story I cared about

Don't see point of owning in steam if you have it on origin. It runs a light version of origin in the background for authentication reasons anyway!

I have more games on Steam than I do Origin so if I can keep them all in one place I'd prefer that.

Even though I use GOG Galaxy so it doesn't make much of a difference really

I know, I just thought you meant ever. TBH I only found out about it more recently, so just assumed it would have past most people by. I was super 'happy' with EA not releasing it on steam, in the end I just didn't care though. Kinda annoyed they're giving a discount for steam purchasers though, makes it feel like they don't give a **** about the people who bought it originally. At least IMO.

As a huge Mass Effect fan, still one of my fondest gaming experiences playing through this series maybe 5 or 6 times each game...I'm somewhat disappointed in what I've seen and heard. It's visual mods, 4k textures, controller support which I modded my game with years and years ago with a few overhaul and menu HUD tweaks to the game plus a few bits of added fluff. And the price, way over the top for a re bundle and a few flashier cutscenes and some updated textures.

Will have to check it out if it comes on Gamepass because I'm a fan, but no way am I paying that price. Even some sort of loyalty discount for those that have all the games and DLC already in their library would have been nice.

I recall I played the first one for about 30 minutes. I remember UI or the inventory screen upset me (it wasn't clear if I was wearing the armour or not) so I uninstalled.

Barmy I know.

My interest has increased with the news that they are reworking some of the ME1 features, its one of my favourite of all times but the gameplay has NOT aged well! I'm not expecting miracles (its EA and the Bioware that gave us andromeda after all) but I'd be happy with some quality of life improvements, will hold off on the pre order for now tho.

Not sure the discount or free upgrade argument stands.

Just because I owned a copy of sim city 1 or CIV1 doesn't mean I get a discount on the new one. Its been nearly 15 years since ME1. What they have achieved is remarkable and very welcome.

Tbf andromeda was not done by the same team that did the original mass effect trilogy

No it doesn't, however it didn't stop
Bioshock
Bioshock 2
Mafia 2
Titan Quest (i didn't even own the DLC)
Skyrim
Borderlands

from adding the remakes to my library, so it's not without precedent. And they are giving a discount, if you have it on steam. Just seems daft that they're shafting the people who bought ME3 on Origin, or physical like I did with the CE.

Whilst I agree, don't forget, this is 15 years old... There are people who were born and now about to venture into college since this game has come out. So in that sense, it's being treated as a 'new' game in terms of pricing, well, 3.5 games once you factor in all the DLC.

While true, 1/3 of it is 15 years old. ME2 is closer to the age some of the games in that list were when their remasters came out. I'm not saying they should be free, the list was simply just to show what others have done, and not everyone who has done a remaster has offered a discount, but considering they are to steam to me that seems wrong. People who bought the game before it went on steam, or chose to go Origin after it came out on steam, are penalised for doing so. Actually it's worse for the second group as EA may well have earnt more money from them buying off Origin then EA having to pay steam.
It even seems odd that they aren't doing a promotion on Origin, to push people to use that to be honest  Heck, maybe they will and it's not been announced yet. *shrugs*

Played through the first game again early last year, story was still pretty epic. Have yet to get through the 2nd again, the story just isn't as good for me. Combat is also a different kind of janky to the 1st and I never really liked the shared cooldowns so not sure if I will be buying this, certainly not at full price :)
