Massive Car insurance costs?

I doubt it will be going down, unless you are very young.
I've already checked some quotes a few months after and it's about £150 less so I'm hopeful.

As long as it doesn't go up significantly I'll be okay with it.

I'm not young at all lol

I paid £550 last year, got the renewal email and they wanted £850.
I went on the comparison sites, and cheapest i could get was £650.
I rang my insurance company and told them i had a quote for £650 and lo and behold they matched it.
Even though i thought they were chancers, i decided to stay with them.

Glad my renewal came in lower than last year, £180 take that all day long when comparisons come in about double that. Wife's Model Y renewal not so much good news, went up £400 to £2400 ouch!

£2400 to insure a Tesla, with depreciation that is some potential big running cost unless you got a good deal on the car, but seems a lot to insure an EV.

Last year I managed to find insurance lower than the previous year, this year no such luck.
My ev 49% rise on best available find, the wife's 1litre petrol rise 61%.
Robbing monkeys

She purchased new and it was the first batch delivered so no deals at the time. Love almost everything about the car but the depreciation and insurance costs would certainly make the same purchase much harder to swallow if we were buying again.

2022 VW Tiguan with Admiral
Last year: £546
Renewal quote: £946

Ouch. Searching around, £900-1000 seems normal. :o

Hastings are offering insurance for £630 if we have a box installed. What’s the deal if they decide that I’m a terrible driver? Does it invalidate my insurance or just affect my renewal price?

Worst case they can cancel the policy IIRC.

I renewed at the end of last month. Mine went up 35% from £175 to £236. Not great and on top of that my old 2004 Audi 1.8T (190ps) is going to cost me a lot to tax each year very soon :(

I'm currently with Admiral and they are proposing a £95 increase on last year (2012 Focus ST3, 17 years NCB, nothing particularly weird). Accordingly, I'm shopping around... but my first two quotes have both been declined, from AXA and Hastings.

Any ideas as to why? Neither have given me any explanation.

Direct line wouldn't quote me, no idea why.

I'm 29 days out from renewal paid £350 last year, best quote so far is £477 with a slightly higher excess.

Don't know whether to buy this or wait for a few more days to see if prices drop a bit.

Tesco Bank have also just refused to give me a quote, but Aviva did... at £544. That's 3 out of 4 so far refusing me.

This doesn't seem right, somehow
