Massive Car insurance costs?

Add a parent as a named driver, seems to be the default way to get a decent quote. But with 6 points and a number of claims, I can't see a big saving coming anytime soon until they are +5yrs old so no longer relevant to insurers.
don't have parents:/ the only option is extra test, but I am not sure how much that will help

Got my renewal from Admiral today. 30% increase on last year with no claims or policy changes.

Had a chat with a minimal loyalty reduction offered so have declined their 'improved offer' and will be moving to Hastings who came in at £299 with business use which is actually slightly lower than this year.

49, nothing exotic and low risk postcode. I'll take that.

Tesla Model 3 performance
Direct line declined to renew because of 2 accidents (1st with damage to the other car, literally 2 scratches, 2nd more serious, both drivers at fault, around 10k damage)
6 points (3 was stupid going 24 in 20 zone and other one 36 in 30)

now I am getting crazy quotes
I was paying 3.5k with Directline

The cheapest that comes up is Admiral for 5.8k

Any advice?

I want to cry when I read about your complaints at 1k insurance:/

would any training course help?
I have the same model and managed to get a quote for around 650, although I don't have any claims, and I live in a nicer place (up north :p ).

£515 insurance this year, now bought as I'm 26 days out so unlikely to improve. The best quote was Aviva zero.

Last year was £350, although this was with 8,000 miles per year now increased to 10,000 so that will have a bit of an impact.

Still 47% more than last year.

I've also gone with Aviva Zero.

They were my best quote at £627. Other companies ranged from £800 to £1500 for the same cover.

£445 last year with Tesco bank

What worries me longer term is that the number of lower quotes is massively reduced. After Aviva, I had esure at £550, but after that out of 100+ more providers the next quote was above £700. None of the companies I have previously had cover with no issues in the last 5 years (LV, Sheilas wheels, and Moja) would even quote.

Indeed, I tried several of the more specialised companies like Adrian Flux, Stirling etc & there prices were £1300+ with a higher excess.

Unfortunately insurance is just something you must have so there's not a lot you can do.

Aviva Zero was around £175 cheaper than the 2nd cheapest quote for me few weeks ago, I've already been with Moja which works in the same way, everything is done via email - but their response time is incredible, last query I had they answered within 5 minutes, answer was a bit unclear but the 2nd response came in 10 minutes and provided some clarity on the matter.

Think of wing mirrors. They used to be at the end of the bonnet or had to manually adjust them from using hand. Then there was the control leaver.

Now they are electric - adjustable mirrors, heated, fold in when engine off and some have indicators.

Car doors used to have just the window mechanism. Now have central locking, speakers, lights and crash protection.

This is another reason why car insurance has increased much.

This all happened in 12 months did it.

I have tried for several years to move away from AVIA, but every year they beat the competitors. No idea why. The other companies don't even come close in price.

Suck it up and learn from your mistakes. Maybe get a cheaper car and learn how to drive first. You have done that 10k damage now you have to pay it back.

:)

You have gotten 6 points and crashed twice in the space of 5 years. You are massive risk.
