Absolutely, we were very lucky, just imagine what if could have been like if the scale on the Tsunami spread chart wasn’t in low centimetres.

For the curious, the estimated cost of Saturday's Tsunami event was $330,000. Money well spent given the devastating 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami was the result of only a slightly larger earthquake. At least we were prepared and ready (apart from a few idiots wading in the sea.)

First working day of the month is always Tsunami warning siren test day (it's a great way to scare the foreigners), and they were out in force to check various areas that reported not hearing the sirens, and they fired them again to day to make sure repairs & changes were all good.

It was already discussed in another thread. It's made a day something like 6 millionths of a second shorter so I don't think satellites will need to be realigned.
