Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

That's gambling though.

Touche. But you still technically haven't lost anything just by doing that and it doesn't come in...

However, I could stick a £100 on Liverpool or the draw at 1.8.

So Chelsea win I get ~£600 - £100 = £500.

Or If Liverpool / Draw comes in I get £280.

Yep. So you could win a lot or lose it all.

OR you could lay the bets and get a guaranteed profit.

Up to you :)

EDIT: also, the bet may have a rollover requirement meaning that you have to bet it x amount of times before you can withdraw it which pretty much kills the chance of taking it home. If you lay the bet and it loses, the cash is simply waiting in your exchange account.

I have got a guarenteed profit? Chelsea win I take home the £500. Liverpool or draw happens I get £280?

But yes, the rollover requirements would kill any serious chances of taking it.

Might be a noob question, but you need a free bet to enable you to do matched betting don't you? Unless for some weird reasons odds are crazy different across sites?

Getting the hang of this.

If anyone is doing the Bet365 in play offer tonight and doesn't have big enough balance on Bet365, I've backed there to be over 0.5 goals with my pre match bet.

Will be hoping there is a goal before half time which will mean an instant payout and allow me to place a matched in play bet at half time. Stand to lose £2 on my original bet which isn't great but I don't have the £100 to take advantage of the full offer.

Yesterday I only bet £30 instead of £50 and ended up with £16 profits. Would rather take a risk that there is a goal scored at some point and make more money by doing the above.

That's gambling though.

it is all gambling

even 'matched betting' isn't completely risk free - you're deliberately giving up some +EV for a more likely profit though you still have counterparty risk (the bookie going bust or reneging on the bet) and some market risk when executing the bets (prices can move between you trying to get both legs covered)

there are also different T&Cs on different bookie sites - if some rare event occurs in your sports game, race etc.. that is handled/accounted for differently by the bookie and the exchange then your bet can come undone

none of this is risk free, some of it is just more risky

the most important question is whether what you're doing has a positive expectation

yeah. Or do big bets with rubbish odds like 1.2 or at least less than 1.5 bet 25 on that and then the lay is quite low at the exchange and you look muggy. Stick to big footy matches.

How often do the mug bets need to be done?

£56 up now after 2 evenings. Won't be able to do anything for the next few days until my withdrawal comes through.

There's no magic formula. Some bookies will just get out the gubbing stick. Boyle's Stan James are renowned for it. I have been doing it for the last 7 months and lost my 365 account through not enough mugging and taking big arbs on the horse place market. Annoying when could have cleared 60 - 70 in the last two nights.

I should mug more than I do but never had an issue with any other accounts. Paddy Power is a good one to protect and I do mug that.

I just betted on Buy Back Bob at Wincanton 19:50, £10 2.75 back and £9.72 2.88 lay

I should lose 77p but get a £30 free bet from betfred

Hi Mikey,

Do you have an email address mate, Don't want to plague the forum with questions but just have one or two and you seem to know your stuff

I should have just put it on Buy Back Bob as he won
I'd rather he lost so I could have had the money just on betfair without moving it around. Hopfully I will get my £30 free bet soon

As long as you met the terms of the free bet and haven't been taking the mick, Betfred will credit it soon.

As an aside, when you withdraw, leave a few pounds in Betfred and pop them on an accumulator next week. Mug bets innit ;)

I been a naughty boy again... I put £10 of my matched bet winnings on Bayern draw no bet to beat Barcelona not matched, to unlock the betfair free x3 £10, a very exciting game and I won £19.09. Banked the winnings now have x3 £10 to do matched betting with. I am really enjoying taking money from the bookie scum and beating the house.

I've also been naughty.

Using the free 50 in play bets at bet365. Bet on first goalscorer to be one of the players who is wont be named in the match day squad. The bet gets voided but you still get the £50 in play bet ;)

Choosing high odds for the free bet as I may as well push my luck. Will be doing the same tomorrow and probably put my in play £50 on a 0-0 draw at 12/1.

I think its crazy betting on a score, football is just so random (its why Cricket is the best ;) ) I'd bet on Juventus 4/1, they have a 1 in 3 chance of winning.

So i've made about £500 in total, but i'm not going get much chance to carry this on over the next month or two so i've cancelled my account and I might pick up where i left off then.

A few things have jumped out at me. A lot of the offers are completely risk free BUT there isn't a guaranteed profit so it is luck of the draw whether you win, in particular the casino offers.

A great site, but i'm not sure its for me.

I'm happy though, i've made a decent amount on the easy offers which has helped me clear my credit card completely and paid for a room in my house to be decorated :D
