Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

Thanks Simon, when doing extra places normally I don't have the best strike rate:rolleyes: does anyone use a particular strategy i.e fourth fav to place fourth or do people tend to go for lowest QL ?

Keep in mind that a low QL inevitably means you're getting at least a less bad bet from the bookie if not actually taking value form them (especially if the QL is close to zero or indeed you end up with an arb).

The risk here is that you draw attention to your account and potentially get gubbed quicker - these are sometimes the sort of bets that can get people gubbed even if they weren't playing some offer/potentially matched betting.

There is probably a balance to be had here in avoiding arbs and really low QLs if you want to try and keep your account but also not completely ignoring the QL and giving up too much edge.

Most bookies don't really want winning customers in general*.

(that is customers who will win in the long run, not people who are otherwise mug punters and are briefly up over a small sample before donking it all back to the bookie or someone who is otherwise a mug punter but has gotten lucky enough on an accumulator that it will eclipse their lifetime losses)

Thanks for the breakdown above Dowie.
had a poor day on the extra places yesterday and with offers in general.
only managed to get a £10 free bet for faugheen coming 2nd but then that offset most of my loses on the extra places :( very small fish compared to most im sure but im still learning.
trying to save my bank roll for the bet365 e/w losing stake back for tomorrow
anyone have a good day yesterday ?

realised after posting the above it was actually clan des obeaux that got me the free bet. had a terrible day on the nationals as I went for bet 365 offer and the only horse I could afford to oppose was.. you guessed it tiger roll:mad: so that lost me around £10.
tried to click on a promotion with netbet and got my first email saying I was no longer able to take advantage on any free bets or offers but the cheeky gits emailed the next morning with all their offers and free bets.
got an email from William hill on their first team to score early payout so I went with wolves and made £81 from them going ahead and then going on to draw/lose so up overall on the weekend.
sorry if the updates are boring anyone just thought id put out what's working or not working for this newbie

is there a different pay-out rule for the William hill golden goal compared to bet 365 2up? I have done 2up before and had an early payout during the match but when man utd game was on and Barcelona had gone a goal up I could still see my cashout offer on my bet and no pay-out until the game had finished

Yes. The rule is the payout is after the game has finished. Pretty clear in the T&C.

Could someone please explain the Smarkets £50 risk free on the Premier League sign up offer?

Signed up yesterday and have used it to place a couple of lay bets, but not entirely sure how to claim/use/rinse the offer :D
