Matched betting - who's done it and who's good at it? (No Referrals)

Had a cracking couple of days matched betting so treated myself to a new hardtail:-

Boardman Pro 29er. 100% paid for with profits from matched betting since Sunday.

And the week isn't over yet!

Wondered how long it would take for you arrive on cheltenham week :D

I can imagine it hard work multi accounting this week

I'm only running 2 accounts, but it's still a bit hectic this week. Not as profitable as I thought it would be, but I'm still £700 up after 3 days so I cant really argue.

I struggling for time as well this week but about £250 up. Hoping for my free £25 bet today from Skybet but horse I backed/layed won:D:D

Phew, that was a busy 4 days. Going to have a nice relaxing beer tonight.

2 free bets in the last race just pushed through the £1k barrier, leaving me on £1024 for the 4 days. I still have quite a few free bets for tomorrow though, so that will probably rise to £1100. Can't argue for sitting in the warm drinking tea and watching racing I suppose.

Just found think thread and its quite interesting.

However,I've read in several places that online betting accounts will affect credit scores/mortgage applications so I would imagine having a few in order to gain decent money would be counter productive in the long term?

Interested in hearing what anyone thinks about that

Absolute codswallop. Normal betting accounts cannot affect credit scores. Spread betting accounts can, but you need to properly apply for them via a credit check. The only thing you will see is identity checks which have no impact on scores. No other information is recorded at all. If you are worried about loads of different betting companies appearing on your bank statements, simply setup another cash account to keep all your betting activity separate. That's wise to do anyway, makes tracking it all much easier.

Honestly, don't listen to people who tell you this rubbish about credit scores. I'm pretty sure for stuff to be recorded on credit scores, you have to have signed some form of credit agreement. Obviously you don't do this when opening up a betting account.

Since Monday I've put in 40 hrs - got zero uni work done! It's been 100% worth it though!

Why does that matter? Surely you made the same profit no matter whether the horse won or lost.

No effect on our credit score and we've just been approved for a new mortgage on a holiday home - who has been feeding you that rubbish? I do however have a separate account(s) that I only use for matched betting - the mortgage company only wanted to see a transaction history from our main current account.

The only complication can be if you're using matched betting income as an income to secure a mortgage - but it's easy to get round that with a ltd company and paying yourself a wage ;)

I hit the bonus round on zuma and then a x3, triple figures! That will pay for a nice 5 star hotel in London for me and the wife when I go to get my Russian visa.

Thank you, Uncle Willy Hill! :D

TBH,up until last year my credit wasnt the best and I spent a bit of time reading those "tips to make credit better" type sites. Affecting mortgage applications seemed to crop up a few times

This looks like something I would have time to do as a security guard on 12 hour night shifts but I don't know where to begin?

Seems like fun thing to do but not very easy for a noob to get started lol.

More than £500 in last 4 days (took the afternoons off work), had some mental good luck, highlight has to be Sprinter Sacre.

That's with no sign ups, no duplicate accounts, etc. Managed to lose Betstars and Betfair Sportsbook during the week but not major losses.

Thinking of starting MB again and also running a second account for my mum.

Aside from her giving me access to a second bank account, registering her an email address, what else will I need from her in order to run this without having to keep bugging her for extra stuff?

She will have to give you some ID, like passport and utility bill. A lot of places now need verification before you can withdraw. Maybe get a PAYG chip too as they all need a phone number. You don't want to be using yours.

You do realise you will need 2 connections or a VPN though?

Hi Rob.

If I just take a scan of her passport and recent utility bill and keep this saved on my PC then that should cover it?

I have a spare sim, but will need a heap PAYGO handset for text alerts/verification calls. Good tip!

I will be running her account alone for the first few months but I do have a VPN service for when I start running two.

Anything else I have a missed?

Thats about it, but instead of a scan, they prefer photo's. Just a snap on your phone is fine. As long as all the info is clearly visible. Oh, and also, take a photo of the front and back of her bank card. They often need to see this too. They give you info on what numbers to blank out using Paint to make sure not all the details are visible.

As you say, get a handset as they sometimes text offers.
