I have just found out the Matrix is voltage locked ? Mine has started artifacting quite badly even at stock so I upped the voltage but nothing changes in GPU-Z. I have no idea how it was running 1375 before as it seems you cannot change the voltage.

I have even read the voltage direct from the card on my meter and no matter what I do it stays at 1.265v ????

I have no idea what is going on now other than upgrading the AMD drivers it has all gone to pot..

Are you using Asus GPU Tweak?

Yes, Tried all of them now.

GPU-Z stays on 1.256v, There is no change on my multimeter reading direct from the card it also shows 1.256v the Voltage adjustment buttons on the card also do nothing other than adjust some nice lights.

No idea what is going on other than the card is locked for voltage or something has gone wrong.

It's not voltage locked, not sure what the problem is though.

Quite a few reports saying they are that I have read ? It seems the early ones were not but later ones are ? Lots of conflicting info.... It seems the version 1.0 board has it unlocked but the later version 1.1 it is locked...

I have my multimeter connected directly to the card and the voltage never changes from 1.256v the buttons on the card do nothing as does settings in GPU tweak. The voltage drops off when idle but I cannot maunally set it down or up that makes any difference.

What's weird is it was running fine at 1375 before I changed the drivers and set it back to stock ?

Hmmm. The Asus website says it's not locked, and Gibbo posted recently it definitely isn't locked. If the buttons aren't doing anything that seems very odd.

If memory serves, there are two versions

MATRIX-HD7970-3GD5 - voltage locked

MATRIX-HD7970-P-3GD5 - voltage unlocked

Apologies if you already knew

Another member posted about the same thing the other day querying about his being voltage locked. Have you flashed it with another bios?

It's locked to a max of 1.256V. Lowering the core to 900 drops the voltage to 1.2v any raising of core speed the voltage jumps to 1.256v.

The card is so far very locked indeed. I have confirmed this with my meter connected directly to the card. The hardware buttons on the card do nothing at all other than change some lights.

What a pointless and falsely advertised card. Anything GPU tweak shows is actually just false and not what it is actually doing.

That's one thing I've never tried, adjusting the volts via the buttons. But mine's definitely not voltage locked.

Does yours go above 1.256v shown in GPU-Z. GPU tweak does not give the correct voltage. GPU-Z seems to show the same as my directly connected meter.

If you look at this pic GPU tweak is set to 1.4v and showing it, GPU-Z and my meter are showing 1.256v

Mine still reads 1.256v in Gpuz even though I dial in 1.3v on the card. So dunno... Unless Gpuz's not picking up the adjusted voltages correctly.

My multimeter is connected directly to the card and is reading the same as GPU-Z.

The card is locked at 1.256v no matter how you try and add more it will not allow.
