Mattresses - I need knowledge

Not sure if a few week of back and forth can be described as a good experience, John Ryan had my issue sorted out in one phone call, and a single call back the following day.

My mattress is over 3 years old, I wouldn't expect Emma to just replace it at the drop of a hat. They needed me to take photos with weights in different places to demonstrate the issue. There was no arguments from them, just a fair request for evidence.

Anyone after a very comfortable mattress on a budget check out the Vesgantti hybrid. I've just bought a small double for a spare bedroom and it exceeds expectations. :)

Those are on sale atm. I'm not interested in foam, but how much did you pay compared to now? I'm just wondering if they have a real sale on atm.

(Edit)
Just realised they only do hybrids sadly.

I own both a Casper and Tuft & Needle. For price/comfort, I'd save the money and go with the Tuft. Do your research here. And remember that you get what you pay for

What are people's mattress sizes like for their Johnryan's? Mine seems a tad big. It kind of rests on the bed edges, but because the mattress is plump it does make contact with the slats.

I've got to measure it all up to see which is wrong, the bed or the mattress. Not sure if either is, but i'll take a look over the bank holiday weekend before i contact anyone about it. Sadly i don't live where it is currently so can't just measure it all up right now.

[edit]

Forgot i posted this. I double checked and turns out it's all correct. I forgot i ordered a space saving bed so the way it sits is all correct.

We've got 4 JR mattresses in 4 different frames from varying shops (John Lewis, IKEA, DFS and Dreams) and all fit fine.

Sorry to Necro an slightly old thread but...

I'm about to pull the pin on the John Ryan Origins 1500 and I've seen it mentioned a few times on here. Can anyone vouch for the longevity of the bed? When you read all the negative reviews on Trust Pilot people mention that the beds not lasting and having problems just outside of warranty which is only 3 years on the Origins 1500.

I've been long suffering with an Otty which is ridiculously firm and uncomfortable and I'm currently using a John Lewis Synthetic topper which softens the blow somewhat. I have also recently tried the Panda memory foam mattress topper on it which cause some serious back pain and has pushed me to go for the John Ryan bed.

I think there's a few people in here who have had one or two a while, best to have a search through. Don't think i recall anyone mentioning anything bad about them.

I've had mine a few weeks but haven't slept in it yet, i got the cheapest model. Should get a week with it before the trial is up. But if i'm not sold on it straight away it's going back, plenty of other places about, and i've been sleeping on a bag of spring literally (my current mattress is some cheapo thing that's over 10yrs old). I too crawled through Trustpilot pre purchase and it raised eyebrows. Best to buy on a credit card as you've got protection outside the short guarantees, as expensive products must last a reasonable amount of time according to consumer laws.

As above, we've got 4 John Ryan mattresses and we bought the first in 2012 when they were still called Factory Beds Direct. Granted that's now a spare bed (each time we've bought one it's been for an extra bedroom and has knocked the prior one out of the master) but still.

Hi, how come you didn't sleep on it yet? Which model? I'm looking at the Origins 1500 which is their cheapest medium firmness mattress. Thanks for the tip about the Credit Card, 3 years is quite short isn't it?

I think the thing with those reviews on trust pilot, you never know the full story and obviously it's very easy for someone to just shout their piece online. I did see some responses from John Ryan which almost came across a bit immature, like in one of their responses they used the Pinocchio emoji.

I'm really interested to hear how you get on with the bed, please let me know.

Hi, so you rate the beds highly then? which ones have you bought?

I had expected to move in at my new place shortly after buying the bed and mattress, but with xmas, work, life, etc it got pushed back. Like you say 3yrs is short, and i expect the cost of the mattresses is inflated to account for returns and refunds. As they are made to order i guess they have reduced storage costs vs pre made.

Their marketing is no more honest than others imo. Take a look at Emma Mattresses for example and cross reference.

Re trustpilot, i agree the responses are strange. It's good they give non copy paste ones, and i imagine they do not give in to negative reviews in exchange for discounts/ partial refunds to avoid further requests from unhappy customers. However that's not to say that they don't offer these things if you ring up first with your issue.

I don't think it's been long since JR rebranded themselves? But ultimately i'm not convinced the mattresses are the be all and end all as they like to think they are.

I'm only about 10 stone and athletic so i guess mine should last, but i don't feel i should need to "get used" to the mattress like they say. I'd have got the Premier Inn mattress if they did a small double, but they don't.

Yeah, if that wasn't obvious :D.

We've got:

Origins Pocket 1500 Double
Origins Pocket Reflex 1000 Double
Origins Pocket 1500 King Size
Origins Comfort 1000 Double

Bought in that order so some may not exist now.
Nice 1, it's interesting you own both the 1500 and 1000 doubles. I'm looking at the 1500 but I'm worried it might be too firm.

We only ordered the latest 1000 (bottom of the list) in November but it really is the 4th bedroom mattress so basically just the cheapest as it'll only be slept on by guests. Our main mattresses have both been the 1500s but we do prefer a firmer mattress.
