Mattresses - I need knowledge

I was looking for a double mattress for the spare room under £500. Ended up going for this. Hope it is okay as I gave up looking.

Dream Team Holman Pocket Sprung Mattress

Didn't want memory foam as at this price they all seem to dip. Love the Tempur Contour Elite on the main bed but this is a price I'm not prepared to pay for something that will be slept in a handfull of times a year.

It is a minefield in terms of information, paid for reviews / sponsorships, no objective information at all. Even on these big sites, example 1,600 pocket springs***

* Only on a king size, will get signifcantly less on double or single.
** 1,600 pocket springs is actually 800 'normal' springs and 800 'pocket' springs.
*** Lets give everything a name and no manufacturer information to make comparison impossible!

I have a silent night 1400 spring one, (standard double size) so pretty simmilar to that I guess. I like it.

EDIT: annoyingly it's non reversable though, So you can rotate it, but not flip it.

Our Simba, which was bought in 2017, is out of shape on the top. Wondering whether to attempt a warranty claim, or just buy another mattress.

Pretty much the same experience although they didn’t ask for the drop measurement.

Sent the pics as requested and they’ve just asked me for my latest address for the replacement.

Really can’t argue with their customer service on this!
The old one has just been collected and the replacement is now 'inflating' on the bed, 7 days turnaround from my original email to them, couldn't be happier with their customer service if I'm honest.

Bought a John Ryan super king Artisan Naturals based on this thread about a month ago. Brilliant mattress, only downside was the delivery driver had a melt down when I had the audacity to say it needed to go in a bedroom upstairs...

Ive got the same one and agree. Had the same thing with the delivery driver having a wobbly too and it wasn't even that tough a staircase.

Thats surprising as they advertise or did do at least they always have 2 people to help move the mattress to where you need it. Great mattresses though, we will definitely buy another.
Aye its just the problem with any subcontracted delivery company. They unfortunately pay peanuts for labour intensive work and sometimes (not always, some have been great!) get monkeys

We have been out today to look at mattresses - This is the start of looking to change the wifes small double. - We have been married for 50 yrs so yes we have seperate beds:)
Two that took her eye were
Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 pocket sprung
Slumberland Sleep Healthy Eco 2000 pocket sprung.

The reviews are not too good with people finding after a short time they get the hole where they sleep
.
So say going by the posts of say 20 people who have had problems what are the odds of the other 480 not having a problem at all.

As said in one of the posts above it is now starting to look as though it's going to be a minefield.

So if anyone has one of the mattresses listed above what are you thoughts.

Also any other mattresses to look at would be helpfull - She is looking for medium/firm to firm and sprung as foam makes her hot (temp that is).

Who would have thought looking for a mattress would be a PITA
:)

Anyone got experience of warren evans mattresses?
I have one of their pocket sprung mattresses bought in 2013 (before Warren Evans shut down and re-opened again). Think it was about £800 and has lasted well. We have since bought a new John Ryan mattress so it is now in the spare room but guests still comment on how comfy it is.

Quick question for anyone with John Ryan mattresses - The wife has had hers for about 3 weeks and we have noticed that where she is lying it has a indent - like squashed down.- This happened from the first night -It is a medium matt and she is 5ft 5" and about 135lb and it doesn't go back to what I would call normal over the day. It's not much but it is noticable - Are we taking fair wear and tear.

Just thought I would ask before ringing Ryans

Have you been flipping and rotating it head to tow? You are meant to flip or rotate them regularly and weekly in first instance.

It’s pretty normal for a ‘traditional’ mattress to get those indents while it’s bedding in, it’s all the fillings inside it above the springs settling in.
