Mattresses - I need knowledge

OK so it is made by a Dunlop process, but not dunlop themselves.

They are, as expensive as, a normalnon-box bed, £1300 for a king. (had never realised there is a Euro/160 and Uk/150 king ) ..
I would test a dunlapillo first - I was disappointed they seem warm, and, are non reversible.

I used to work for Vispring and was able to get their Elite mattress half of wholesale price whilst I worked there.

I would buy another at full price in a heartbeat, worth every penny.

Leaning heavily towards the Vi Spring at the moment, the Elite version aswell. Quick question for you, my only concern is the 25cm depth. Still suitable for someone of 18st and 6ft3? Wife is quite small tho. It's around £1k but in order to get the ones with greater depth, quite an increase in price.

yes - people will forget beds used to last 10+ years, and start accepting that a £/6/700 replaced evey 5 years is a better deal than a £1K bed .. its Primark etc. cars , cliche of throaway society.

Also have to be aware what the margin and manufacturing cost are for the 'in a box'; hotuk today showing leesa's at £400 and pay what you think it's worth.

I'm not sure i can blame the average consumer tbh, i think the bigger issue is how much of a mess the industry is as a whole. So easily fooled into a £500/£600 mattress and all the claims they make, so hard to even know what the good manufacturers are unless you do allot of digging (And i do mean allot, since the internet is rammed full marketing lead stuff. Far more than ive seen for any other product).

It seems like Dunlopillo have really gone down in quality over the years and are (now?) a mix of natural and synthetic. I looked on JR but all their Fusion range is out of stock. That Una mattress has 100 night trial, my current mattress is firmly in the 'needs to be replaced' category, so I'll be a guinea pig, try it out and if it's less than stellar I can try something else out!

Yes the depth is fine... i have a medium tension - I would recommend a hard tension on one half and a soft/med tension on the other.

What topper do you use with your vispring? Ive tried a duck down before and they feel too hot. I've looked at the johnryan cool ones but apparently you should keep the same materials as what your mattress is, and visprings cheapest topper is £600.

I’ve had the mattress for 18 months, we’ve turned it once but haven’t noticed any sagging.

I also bought my step son an extra firm Coronet. It would probably retail for around 3/4K... they had a staff sale for old stock.. it was worth the punt for the price that I paid and if I’m honest, I prefer it over the Elite.

He’s quite a big lad at 14 stone and 6ft (he’s 13) and theres deffo been no sagging on that.

If you can try a Vispring extra firm tension, that would be my advice.

The elite does seem bottom of the firmness ratio so very soft. Not sure if I would like something so soft. That duck down topper felt like I was sleeping on a cloud but couldnt get used to it, think I would prefer more the firmer side

You can spec the Elite in any tension you want. Even 50/50 it.. I.e extra firm for you and medium for your wife.

I'm a little confused as to how the fillings work in harmony with the springs. The elite has soft fillings according to JohnRyan, opposed to some that have more firmer fillings... does this even make much difference?

A soft tension mattresss with firm fillings, or a firm tension mattress with soft fillings? Which would dominate?

Unless there are any caveats tucked away in the fine print then I can't see what's 'scumbaggy' at all about taking these companies up on their offers.

If it's anything like the trial offered at the bedding centre local to me, you actually have to buy the mattress and then the "100 days free trial" is essentially the time-frame in which you can return it on a no-quibble basis. However, I'm not sure how easy / difficult they make it for you to return it.

They'll be banking on the fact most people wouldn't want the hassle of returning the product, there'll be clauses regarding condition that will be very difficult to meet after 100 days.

The company would go out of business otherwise.
