Maximus V Gene Preview/Review 8 Pack style

The pi 32 times I posted with 2800 where not tuned at all really. I have tuned one now for the retail controller, dropped around 8 seconds with 50 more mhz and tuning of all timings. Same CPU speed of 5.8ghz.

There is a thread about this on the ROG forum mate and a work around for the problem too. Asus are also sorting it.

The solution is on teh ROG forum I am sure but I cant see it now sadly. I saw a thread about this a while ago and a user had a neat work around.

Yeah for some it does work first up.

Buckster you tried going into bios and disabling everything other than the essentials to get it installed. Your not on raid or sumat are you????

8 pack - thanks - I tried unplugging E-SATA etc - but didn't go as so far as to disable everything (Asmedia etc etc) controllers - as after the 6th attempt at install I was getting a bit frustrated if I'm honest

Does anyone have any screenshots of their timings etc with this motherboard and samsung green ram?

I have posted these in the Samsung thread mate. Both 2400mhz and 2600 mhz profiles including sub timings.

After reading about this in another thread. Has anyone had any issue fitting high end graphic cards because of the sata ports?

^^ nope - although my 480 - is only 2 slot not 3

but it is very long - 300mm and I've had no issue

It's the length that seems like it could be an issue for cards with big coolers.

Only problem with the Windforce 7870 is that it doesn't fit onto an Asus Maimus V Gene motherboard due to the graphics cards extended heatsink hitting the SATA ports. I had to take a dremel to one corner of the heatsink, so it's just as well the card worked. The Windforce X3 is a great cooler for this card, perhaps being overkill for such an effficient GPU.
