MINE!

What doesn't make sense to me is that in the Muslim world websites are full of pictures and pages and pages of anti Christ and anti Jew (in fact anti any other then Muslim religion) pictures.

It doesn't only stop at this, there are well respected people in the Muslim communities educating their next generation of people not to tolerate other religons....

one group on facebook, a few cartoons, and its not acceptable... do that not seem hypocritical?

You can't prove this because it isn't true.

yeah crap like that is deemed bad for the public in the UK, the Governor monitors and blocks it.

If the rules of Western society don't fit a persons culture, why not live somewhere their rules they do?? That just makes sense, or clearly not

The significance of this day is monumous and, I hope, marks the start of many such 'freedom of speech' days! Personally, I look forward to celebrating 'Draw Your Neighbours 10 Year Old Daughter Naked Day', 'Draw A Cancer Patient Day' and 'Draw A Cripple Falling Down The Stairs Day'. Fun times :)

DISCLAIMER: I'm completely impartial to this whole malarky but reserve the right to mixed opinion ;D

What does "monumous" mean?
A cripple tumbling, a paedophile moment and a cancer picture are something that only you seem to be able to reconcile with a drawing of a representation of SOME peoples belief.
Tell me, why is drawing a picture of Mo the Paedo any more offensive than me having to see Muslims burning my country's flag? I believe in my country and know it DOES exist so why do my sensitivities mean less than theirs?

have any of those groups killed people for drawing them before though?

No they haven't, and I believe this is where certain Muslims cross the line, and where this whole mess starts.

I believe, most poeple are generally insecure in things such as their beliefs, their posessions, their disabilities, etc. This leads them to react defensively when these things are abused or even insulted.

This is true for parents - insecurity in one's childs rights being violated.
This is true for disabled folk - insecurity in their 'inadequecies', 'imperfections', etc. (I don't mean to say that they are either of these)
This is true for religious folk - insecurity in their beliefs being defied, argued or even being proven wrong.

I think religious folk tend to overreact more so than anyone. In the case of 'Draw Mohammad Day', Muslims who are offended are simply acting out of their insecurity in the integrity of their religion.

If people were secure in such things, they would not feel the need to defend them. I'd like to believe a true, honest practicing Muslim would be 100% secure in Islam and would not consider the actions of others, especially non-believers, to discredit or disprove their belief in any way. Their actions can and should go unnoticed.

On a side note, I also believe this mass insecurity is a sign of a failed religion. A worthy religion would stand the test of any age, any civilisation, any lifestyle in any circumstance. I believe Buddhism is that worthy religion :)

60k people supporting the drawing of hamhd, and 69k against, maybe the opposition don't really care. Will look to see if this makes the news tomorrow.

I believe Buddhism is that worthy religion :)

Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, Judaism etc are all the same crowd control mechanisms to me. Look at the time and place of all these religion's most popular times and you will see poor, downtrodden people working for a local lord that represents a God and promises a better life when they die. "Just serve me in poverty instead of revolting, and I'll have a word with the big feller(s) upstairs when you die".
I find Jainism and Taoism particularly noteworthy as they are religions that teach you to be a better person just for the sake of being a better person. Sounds more honest to me. :D

All i would like to add to this discussion is that i would pray for all of you that my ALLAH Almighty/GOD just you on the Judgement Day because most of you don't know what they are saying or writing.....and it was the habit of my Prophet too....when he was threaten to life and threw stones at, he just prayed for their forgiveness because those people didnt know who he was......i notice that most of you have a complete wrong image of Islam.....This religion is the purest and peaceful.....however few so called True Muslims have turned this into a source for extremism..........just my two cents.... :) and Please respect other religions you have no right to say anything about other's beliefs and faith

This is a joke right?
Tell me why your religion is the "purest"?
Tell me how your religion is peaceful when it preaches racist violence that is only equalled in the Talmud.
And why should I respect a religion of any description if I am not religious? Grow up.

EDIT: I have a translated copy of the Q'uran in the bathroom and read it when on the toilet as I did with the Bible. I am interested in these things and find the Q'uran very distasteful and in NO WAY PEACEFUL!
