Mclaren 2011 Car Launched

I dont like it at all! They seem to have gotten around the rule of NO MORE FLAP THINGS so we're got a 90's style flap near to the sidepod intakes... And its pretty ugly, not all time uglyist but getting there...

I am interesting at how tightly packaged the back is, not on the same scale of Williams but they are heading that direction

Everyone's got round that rule because, as usual, it's badly worded. The FIA defined the 2009 "no sticky out bits" rules based on the average shape of a 2008 car. Therefore barge boards are banned in the area between the front axle line and where a 2008 sidepod would start.

Apparently it didn't occur to them that the teams would, shock horror.... Move the sidepods back!

Not quite sure what you mean there as every 2011 car bar the Mercedes has those?

I mean there's more than everyone else, there's the ones that used to hold up the mirrors that's magically stayed despite the lack of mirrors... But there's a second under the side pod which is the one annoying me as those were definitely taken off the cars a few years ago

Would other teams be able to copy this now? When is the chassis design sent to the FIA? Would have thought this design would be mighty difficult to copy. Hope McLaren have finally produced a "fast" car - don't care what it looks like tbh.

It looks fast but we won't know until it hits the track whether it is faster than a more conventiual design.

well it's very different which is nice, lets just hope it works.

Think I'll wait till after last test to update sig, we may see a bit of change by then.

I find this picture very interesting (below), if you look at the front wing mount about halfway up you will notice another floor which looks like it's creating the wind to move either side of the cockpit and travel over the lower part of the L shape radiator cover for more wind travel over the rear wing for extra downforce.
