Mclaren 2011 Car Launched

well it's very different which is nice, lets just hope it works.

Think I'll wait till after last test to update sig, we may see a bit of change by then.

Hopefully this year you'll cut out the background underneath the nose of the car and not leave a weird white bit dangling below the bottom of Jensen's helmet!

ha-Ha never noticed that tbh, I didn't make it, the monkeys in the sig making thread are slacking.

Evidently Clapton did?

Is Lewis or Jenson "Layla" though :)

Ready for Singapore to come out with "Wonderful Tonight" :D

Loves the idea by someone earlier that the sidepods are "L" & " J" for the two drivers :)

Still think its a good looking car because of its uniqueness - some great touches all around - I just hope its a multi-winner to go with it

sidepods looks like the ferrari from 1996... Horrible, and for some reason, even tho i havnt got millions of pounds of CFD equipment, i just dont think its going to work...?

The F310 that took second place in the constructors in '96 and '97? I can't say I see that much similarity. Sure the intakes extend further out, but the McLaren has L shaped intakes, while the Ferrari had rectangular ones and the McLaren has scooped channels inboard of the risers of the intakes that presumably channel air in a useful fashion.

The sidepods will take the dirty air from behind the tyres instead of the clean air. The clean air is directed down the centre to the rear wing. Sounds good in theory but we'll see :)

the F310B had a totally different sidepod design. I mean they are similar as in they move the inlet outboard, leaving a much lower section near the cockpit to channel the air.

Martin Whitmarsh says he aims to get at least 1 second worth of performance with a new floor and more simple exhaust system:

Normally I'd be like WTF one whole second, but we've seen Mercedes do just that at the last test. So hopefully some positive news or at the very least optimism for all of us wanting to see some Brits in competitive cars.
