MCU to "Refocus” and Disney sinking faster than the Titanic (Starwars is dead Marvel is dead)

People think businesses always think rationally, because they almost always do because it has to be in the end all about $$$. But ego and activism in Disney's case have now usurped their bottom line thinking.

Their bottom line, and that of many global companies nowadays, is being supported by over $30 Trillion dollars of ESG support so they know that they can continue to absorb failure after failure because they understand that ESG money will pump them full of money again. Thats their "bottom line thinking" now, rather than being forced to make a profit to pay for all this.

However ESG support is a finite, if extremely large, resource and its dropping all the time due to being forced to prop up failure after failure. Over the past 2 years for example, the GSIA (who reports on ESG availability) said that the total ESG money available globally dropped $5 Trillion and it's dropping about 5% per year, but that just means that it's still got plenty left in the tank for another decade or more.

This is the original report -

This is the hyperbolic version :D

Rumour has it, Silver Surfer is going to be introduced into MCU but as a female character. Anya Taylor Joy apparently. I dont have problem with it myself as long as its done well and serves a purpose but if its just for the sake of it then it is pointless and just aggravate some fans.
So how comic book accurate will her costume be? :D

HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Where are all the white knights now?

The Message!!!!

Yeah Bob, blame the other Bob.....

Iger said Disney’s prioritization of messaging over storytelling peaked “while [he] was gone” in 2022, alluding to the 11 months he left his job as Disney’s executive chairman. Iger had been in charge of “creative endeavors” in 2020 and 2021, even while Bob Chapek ran the company as CEO.

I can see why they did it. The younger generation is very performative and very extreme in their views on things despite not really caring that much when the chips are down. They will happily try to run a company into the ground if it falls foul of their world view...as long as they don't stand to suffer as a result of it. Its just internet slactivism on steroids.

The issue comes when you think these people genuinely believe in what they are saying and that they are willing to accept a sub par product as long as it represents that view. They aren't. Like everyone else, they want to have their cake and eat it too. They want representation but they want good story telling. Funnily enough, the vast majority of people don't care about representation and just want good storytelling and when you do both, everyone is happy for the most part.

They catered to a market that doesn't really exist and the younger generation are increasingly moving away from long form storytelling anyway. Social media tells you whats hot and whats not and for a while now its been very short videos. Film makers need to return to what made them successful. Good writing, acting, pacing and directing. Everything else will follow.

The MCU is on it's arse because people are finally fed up of the bukkake of superhero movies and tv shows over the last 15 years. It's been ******* relentless and people are burned out by it. Can they not give it a rest for a few years to let people get over the CGI spoogefests of 15 years?

No they can’t. Because of the “messaging” or social engineering. Their animations are also losing them 100’s of millions.

I’ve posted two posts now’s. An official filling from Disney stating their social goals differ from their consumers and it’s costing them.

The other is direct quotes from the CEO him self stating that from 2015-2022 they have been too focused on the messaging than putting out quality content.

Yes superhero burn out is real but is only a small part. They thought they were untouchable.

Strange that the few people in that jump all over my post didn’t even reply /shug
Maybe there is no reply when it comes straight from the horses mouth.

Nope, not if its done well and the Story, pace, direction and acting are good. Its just like any other movie. Problem with the MCU is the story is last place.

You'll find most people don't reply because the thread has gone from just a bit of an axe-grind to the rantings of someone who clearly isn't well, or is at the very least unhealthily obsessed.
I’m just posting info directly from Disney:D not my fault it’s proving a lot of people correct. /shrug

Yup, take GotG as an example, all 3 movies have performed pretty similarly at the box office. If people were sick of superhero movies then you'd see a massive drop off over the 3, instead there's been a small 20 million drop for the b.o. takings of 3 when compared to 2 - with the 3rd movie still outperforming the 1st GotG.

Fatigue is one factor, nowhere near the only one or even the most significant. They would'nt be losing hundreds of millions of dollars on good movies people wanted to see.
