Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries

Fresh install of 19.12.3, SFC, DISM and CHKDSK all completed and game file integrity check completed too, and.... all is fine! Zoom issue has gone and no problems exiting the game. One thing I haven't done, is re-enable "HBCC Memory Segment" in the Adrenaline software, which caches any GPU data into System Memory. That could have been the reason I was seeing that Memory issue on exit. However, all is now well so I'm off to blow up some Mechs. :D

the game locks and then CTD's for me once i try and add a 4th mech to the lance. tried with various mechs and locations. shame.

ok, plenty of hours clocked up now without a problem.

About half-way through the game, i really struggled with the 'Awesome' mech and once i found the Hero-level Battlemaster (85tons) it was a total gamechanger for me.

Also, i found out too late about pilots, they skill rating is key once you go beyond level40. Don't be afraid to fire a pilot when you find a better one but if they do get killed it is a major bummer!

8/10 rating for me so far for the game, the overall production is low-budget but they got the gun-play bang on imho.

The crazy spawns, poor AI and repetitive missions really kill this game for me. Such a shame, as I love the Battletech universe - guess it's back to HBS's Battletech turned based game for me.

How are people getting on with this now we are a couple of months after release? Used to play Mechwarrior waaaayyyy back in the early days of PC Gaming so I feel I would probably enjoy this, with an Epic coupon left over from the Epic sale I can pick this up for £23.99

I've not played it recently and didn't even finish the campaign; tons of side missions though. I love stomping around and blowing things up but there's just not enough there, and the AI is woeful. There is modding tools now and I've seen talk of some very ambitious projects but don't know what's out there at the moment. I bought it at launch and while a bit annoyed, I easily feel I got my monies worth of fun out of it.

I clocked about 50% of the game and then halted to allow the studio time to start releasing new content. I did the same with BattleTech and enjoyed it more that way.

Such is the way of modern game development :)

Picked this up on a deal last week.

Been a fan of the franchise since MW2.

This game is ok.... I played MWO from it's release for several years, put a lot of hours in that game and whilst this is fun, it just feels very basic and dummed down.

I played Battletech (PC game) which was release a few years ago, and this is basically that, in first person, but even then I feel it is dummed down a bit from that.

Compared to MWO, you cant really do much in terms of your mech fitting, unless I am missing something you can change out engines, XL engines, ferro armour etc, lots of stuff in MWO you cant do in this game. The combat also feels a lot more basic, even the graphics seem a bit fuzzy. Your mechs also seem really paper like, I dunno, just feels very different to MWO, althnough it is effectively that game in a single player version. Missions are samey, one bonus if you are playing with AI team mates, they are actually not bad, which is a bonus, I was worried they would just end up being a complete liability but they are not at all.

TLDR: Arcade style game, not simulation, fun but very basic.

I saw a comment on the steam sale thread about this game but didn't want to hijack that thread.

Apparently there are a good few mods now for this game, might give it another go and see whats out there on nexus.

Base game itself was pretty poor.

There's a load of mods that add new mechs, equipment, missions etc. And really change how the game plays. Unfortunatley it's base is still a very rushed game and that shows through but it's good fun with mods.

This Chap does a lot of content for Mechwarrior and Battletech and i saw some mods listed from there.

YAML seems to be a common core mod as well
YAML
some mods reportedly being usedSee also :

Edit as i didnt finish correctly.

Battletech :

one of the mods :
Roguetech

"RogueTech has as goal to provide new challenges and a harsher sim game experience. Survive by any means necessary, because your enemies won't care if you live or die.
This mod is set in an alternate timeline, taking place after the 4th Succession and the War of 3039, when the wide spread use of the technologies from the Helm Core appearing around the sphere and beyond.

THIS MOD IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EASY, ENEMIES ARE SMARTER, PUSH THE LIMITS OF THEIR MECHS, AND WOULD LOVE TO GUT YOUR MECH LANCE FROM THE REAR IF YOU LET THEM."
