hi, basically im looking for a basic pc to watch films on my tv.
i already have my G620, some DDR3 ram, hard drive, case, windows 7 etc. only thing im missing is a motherboard. im not sure how essential this is to the overall quality as the G620 is the thing that controls the graphics side, and im not sure this is up to the job either.
the motherboard im looking at is an ASRock H61M. i understand its only a budget board, but the pc will have 1 task, playng video files at ideally 1920x1080, but thats only ideally, if i have to drop it back a bit then its not the end of the world.

cheers in advance.

I assume the HDD is SATA?

I'd go with a H61 motherboard of some sort. The cheapest is the MSI at £46 or so. That should do the job. If the integrated GPU isn't up to the task (I think it will be okay), you can always pop in a cheap dedicated GPU (£20 or so) or get 1 second hand

ideally need HDMI out so i dont have to faff with both audio and video cables. the ASRock is the cheapest i could fine with the HDMI socket onboard.
yeh hard drive is SATA.

Yeah as long as the network is fast enough should be okay! Personally I'd recommend a wired connection for streaming, to ensure its smooth.

Depends what you'll be doing with it.
Will you have a TV card plugged in to save TV progs to a HDD? will you be playing disks? or will all media be played from files over your network?

I've just built a media centre with the ASRock board, and a G620T, and can confirm it plays and streams 1080p without a problem :)

nope no tv card and have sky HD so that does all my recording, so will be mainly files. would like to have things like bbciplayer, 4OD and itvplayer and that on there, but would prefer it to me run via remote and pretty sure mediacentre doesnt support most of them, so if possible find some software that does.
