memory timings advice

My volts in bios for dram are at 1.6650, but underneath that figure its showing 1.69, this board does like to pump it up. Something i dont like personally.
So 8Pack do you think thats my lot??

For certain frequencys and timings is there a rule of thumb regarding voltages.

I.e 2400MHz, 1.25v IO, dram 1.65v??

No rule no. Thats liek saying is there a rule for CPU clocking!!! Come on man you know better than that!!! Its never that easy. Try dial down IO if you can!!!

Yeah ok, thought so. Happy now with timings and speed all round, just need to work on those voltages. Even though currently it passes everything there is the odd glitch now and then, but our heating comes on at about 3pm, where ambient rises about 7c for when the mrs gets home! These little blips occur after about 5.30 when the house has warmed up.

Looking at the current weather, looks like i may be having a few more days off so can test further. ;)
Have you had time to have a play with the mpower yet?
Oh and when you suggest settings/timings is there a formula or is it just experience? And thx again for your help.

Sorry to jump in on this but hopefully we can find the best between us

I have managed this so far

Not sure what advantage dropping tRAS so low has?

Unfortunately i have to tile our en-suite today, so wont get on pc till later, have a play winston and post here how you get on.
What i want to know is which is better
Higher freq.slacker timings v's lower freq. tight timings

Well not one of the worlds top overclockers stick to this and we tune for extreme efficiency.

That's good enough for me! So how low can it go to get the best efficiency? Is there anything it is based on or just shoot for as low as possible? As I've had it down to 18 and still seemed stable?

Well I can't get mine to boot at 2600mhz now matter what I seem to set, think it could be a limit of my CPU or quite possibly the MOBO I think... SO you might be best shooting for higher freq, I'll aim for tight timings at 2400mhz and we can compare?

Try these when you get a moment Nick

^ yep will do, just taking quick break

Just tried everything on auto, will boot at 2600 but not 2666 get debug code 55 which i believe means my ram is not capable at that freq.

Shame mine hasn't got that feature, wish I'd gonewith a better mobo but must keep bbudgets in control :(

Wish I had gone for X79 and skipped Z77

Any luck with those timings, interested to see if they are much faster
