Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

Fair summary.

Unless the Merc service plan included Mobilo road side assistance which looks pretty all encompassing (technician travel, tow, taxi, delivery, hotel, vehicle return, replacement car).

You get it included for a year after every service - which is very good (But what happens after a year if a service is not due? Is Mercedes servicing annually?).

The same service from BMW is about £80 when taken with an extended warranty (or £150 without).

It's annual from what I know (but I have limited knowledge beyond my 2012 C180 and my 2018 E43).

Interesting - so a two service package gives you two years servicing, whereas the same on a BMW would give you 4 years?

Mercedes servicing seems much more comprehensive - perhaps they do more in the services (I have never seen a gearbox oil replacement service at BMW) and the service is more frequent (every year instead of every 2).

Whilst this might be better for a car, the practical result for an end user who services their car in accordance with the manufacturer requirements and maintains an extended warranty is more cost.

This isn't a 'BMW is better!!!' argument by the way - it's an interesting discussion, especially given that the current new BMW range contains zero cars I'd ever want to buy and the current Mercedes Benz range contains several!

Are all Bimmer's 2 years now? Or just a select few?

I would trust but check on the gearbox oil, it was something that came up in a Google search when I had already cancelled the plan from a forum discussion. If it is included it seems great value.

To be honest the main thing for me was cash flow. I signed up to the £42/mo service plan a year after buying the car second hand, and then had £600odd worth of work done the next day (plugs, service A).

So…..I’ve had my GT R for coming up to 3 years. I’ve always moaned about the lack of auto handbrake.

Sitting at Costa yesterday getting a brew I see HOLD on the dashboard and notice my car doesn’t move in gear foot off brakes.

Seems a double tap on the brake pedal puts it in HOLD. Me, read a manual, never!!

Wonder if it has a 6th gear?

Donut - pretty much every new car will have auto hold/hill start

Though I will admit that a double press is different (and good), as usually it’ll do it as soon as you press the brake pedal when stopped - can be annoying for low speed manoeuvring

There's normally a button next to the handbrake button.... Maybe not on a BECAUSERACECAR like boss man's though..

Have you established for sure that a double tap is the method? Or is that just your best guess of what you did just before it appeared?
On the C63 it's a harder press of the pedal that sets the HOLD.

Mercedes dropping the price of 400+ brand new, delivery mileage EQC's by £30k probably doesn't help the depreciation of the older models !
Appears the 'Premium' spec EQC had most of the extra features removed due the chip shortage and Merc didn't add them back when the chips were plentiful, but continued to charge the same price for it.

Lease deal here :

Are you sure it's a double tap? Why would Merc make it double tap when it's 'push harder' in every other car they have?

Do you double click hyperlinks on websites too?
