Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

Quick question. Not posted in this section but the Girlfriend currently has a GLA A35 AMG (prefers the ride height) and next year is looking to upgrade to the new facelift GLA A45s AMG.

Is there anything within range and similar price which would be a better buy for her to test drive after the new year?

For myself I am looking at the A45s or the CLA45s. Take me back to my boy racer days

Sorry to come back on here and bother you all. I've found a C220d on a 69 plate that ticks all the boxes, however when I've spoken to a friend, he's saying they are plagued with issues... is this right? Reliability is a big one for me, so want to get this spot on.

I had a 250D for 2.5 years, nothing went worng (apart from some bits wearing loose over time, front sus)

I had a E63 for a year, was in the garage more than my drive. no end of issues.

I'm not convinced Mercedes are the super amazing company that I thought a few years ago.

Luck of the drawer I guess

good to see Merc can still make nice cars with a proper engine. Hopefully this will do well and the new C63 will continue to do very badly so they they don't make that same mistake again!

Will 100% be my next car in 2 years or so. Been looking at AMG GT’s for a long time but as with most 2 seater sports cars, just can’t make it work due to having 2 young kids and the headaches it would cause with then only having one family car.

This ticks every box

They’ve had to do it for the C63 due to the fines a company receives when they sell a certain number cars over a certain CO2 rating.

I.e. there is a fleet-wide limit of CO2 and they must not go over it, or pay huge fines.

Won another car last night

Not a classic car this time, it's a boy racer car!! Now do I keep it and have a mid life crisis (55) or take the cash?

It full on "pops and bangs". Oh and it has black wheels

How did you win the car, racing for pinks or green over here? Should be fun to drive apart from the obnoxious pops and bangs, so have fun with it for a while then get rid when you had enough
Five 49p tickets on one of those car lottery winning sites which sprung up during covid everywhere. Massive odds of not winning but it was only £2.45 and somebody has to win it .

The pops and bangs are brutal though. Every time you take your foot off the accelerator it drops 2 or 3! My neighbours would hate me as I leave for work at 5.30am in the morning lol

Bargin then, congratulations. Have a bit of fun then flog it.

Jesus, sounds incredibly anti social.

@kindai would love to take it to a supermarket car park I bet ;)

Sounds like that map might have extra overrun chavness added. Remap it if you keep it.

Set to become a GLB owner later today, I’ll be honest, we really wanted a Landrover Discovery Sport or Velar but they seem to be plagued with issues. We’re trading in our Jaguar XF and need something large and easier to get in and out of. Love the front end and inside of the GLB but it looks like they ran out of money by the time they got to the rear end. Test drove a Volvo as well, hugely overpriced

I actually really love the look of the GLB. Like a modern Nissan Cube quirky look. The only thing that put me off was the interior is closer to the A class than the E class IIRC.

Just dropped the E43 off to an indy. As I pulled up an X5M pulled up. If it's good enough for him :D
This went roughly fine - service A performed. It said a surcharge would be applied for AMG models. Now I know mine is a baby AMG but on the last Mercedes service history it distinctly said Mobil 1 0w oil. This chap either didn't put the Mobil 1 0w oil in or didn't bill me the surcharge. Probably fine as its just the standard v6 3.0 lump found in the E450s... Furthermore, no MOT issues. Flew through. Tbh I am not even sure they did a proper MOT as the seatbelts were not latched in, and they never ticked the "child seat preventing rear seat belt test" box either..

Has anyone had experience cancelling the Merc service plan? I pay £42/mo - I am pretty sure it was the same cost for a 2 year or a 3 year deal. I am cancelling with a year left and they said they'd prorate the cost and give me a final bill. The first service was spark plugs though (£800+ for full service + plugs) and the second included brake fluid... Hoping I don't get rinsed!
