Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

You’ve only had it a few months as well.. par for the course with something like an E63?
Can’t imagine running something like this without a warranty!

I’m hoping it’s nothing bad.

fault error on thurs was misfire on cylinders 2,3 and 7

just had it again, misfire on cylinder 1

Ive just dropped it at MerTrux, they’ll be on it 1st thing Monday

EDIT: hope they fix it by Thursday. If garages close, I’ll not get it back until December!?

UPDATE: Since RAC cleared the code, there's nothing for Mercedes to read. They've tested it twice and the fault hasn't come back......gaaaah!!

One good thing though, turns out my creaky steering noise was a loose front shock!! : , that's been tightened.

Costing me £177 to have the main issue not fixed. I'll go and drive it around near the garage until the fault pops back on

Found out that my auxiliary battery is having issues. No stop start and MPG has dropped due to alternator not being able to charge it up or something. I noticed I had lost about 10mpg for no reason but this now all makes sense.

Around £250 for a new battery...fun!

Is the car still in warranty? I had the battery replaced under warranty on my E43 as it died and it was only 2 years old

Same issue with my 2017 GLC, stop start hasn’t worked since I got the car in May. In for a B Service yesterday and told them about it. Battery changed and all good.

It’s also due an mot, which I didn’t book it in for but they noticed and did same day. Quite impressed tbh! I was fully expecting to have to take it back in.

My B service is due is about...100ish days I think. I may ask my usual mechanic it prior to then though but that all depends on the state of the world of course. He has already said I can buy from him now if I wanted to fit myself though which I may do.

Does anyone have any experience with older Mercedes? I’ve been looking at 190E’s and E classes from the early 90’s. My thoughts are that one of these might make an interesting mile muncher for a year or so and adding 10-20k mileage isn’t likely to negatively impact the value (considering most are well in excess of 100k anyway). Looking at the classifieds there are a number of sub £5k cars which don’t look like they’ve worn their miles badly at all. Is this a ridiculous idea? Are they particularly expensive to keep running in terms of basic servicing?
Thanks!

On my c class coupe, I have a reversing camera that is hidden away and only shows itself when in reverse.

Last night I went out and noticed there was rain on the reversing camera (hadn't driven it in a few days and we've had heavy rain) and so the view was blurred. Is it normal for a few drops to get in there?

I've not seen this before but it more or less cleared in 5 minutes after driving but wanted to check if this is normal?

I noticed the reversing camera does have a very thin margin around it in which rain could have got through. I've had it since new and so it's not been in a knock/repair.

I don't think I've ever had rain on the camera in either the C or E classes I've had, but I do clean the lens everytime I wash the car. Stupid question - are you sure it wasn't condensation?

Does anyone know if when your engine light comes on, then goes off on restart, if the fault is still stored?

The garage couldn't find the issue with my E63 as the fault got cleared by the RAC guy.

It popped on last night as I drove around. Weirdly since the big miss fire/RAC incident, it's been fine. I drove it to Oxford and back for work last week. It' still feels not quite "right" though.....unless I'm just imagining it's breaking....

Could well have been which is why it cleared away so soon. Usually I wait until the car heats up properly before driving off but was in a rush last night so it could have been that.

"luckily" the check engine light is now on full time. Just dropped it off at Mercedes Derby, hopefully this will sort it once and for all. I just had a "fun" drive down the a50, it started misfiring really bad and I just got slower and slower. This was at 7:45, so nice and busy, massive trucks steaming up behind me!? yikes!

Least I got a nice 12 mile bike ride home :)

Soooooo, it was a dodgy coil pack causing a misfire, there was another cable issue that was mis firing too. Also they found some suspension parts that need replacing

castor arms, or something.

All covered by warranty, should be fixed and running tomorrow!

so glad this is sorted, was giving me such a headache when it was an intermittent fault

feels like the night before collector for the 1st time

Glad it’s finally diagnosed and being fixed, it gets rather annoying when you can’t repeat the fault. Can get back to hooning it around again, makes me laugh how outrageous they can be.

Yeah!! The weird thing is, when I went to oxford after the 1st incident, it was running perfect! Today was a different story. It was scary just slowly running out of power on the a50. Trucks looming down on me as I limped to the lay-by

best bit, my tip trip can still go ahead tmw evening. Booking a spot is like gold dust! :)

Haha so Rock and Roll dude. Saying that we went to the tip the other day, had to buy a waste permit and pay for dumping a bath tub and some wood!!

I’ll be arriving sideways! :)

EDIT: WOW! £1890 worth of work carried out!

Ignition coil cylinder 1 faulted 10 times internal fault with coil pack

Engine control unit requires software update for miss fire issues

Osf strut top mount noisy and nsf

Both front caster arm bushes split

Transmission ground cable corrosion ( can cause engine miss fires )

The Caster Bushes are on back order, but I can collect the car later on today.

WARRANTY WINNING! :D :D :D

Hey all

In a few months time I'm looking to change motors and I quite fancy the A35 AMG Premium (second hand model probably 2019 year). Might not be able to stretch to one with the Aero Pack but see what is available at the time. Are there any pitfalls to be aware of? Or things I should check / ask have been fixed etc?

Thanks!

Are you sure you want an A35? I had one for a few days and it was one of the most dull cars I ever had. Lots of options in the merc range. Test drive one first

Hey. :) I like the look of them for sure, but yes not yet test drove. Was it the drive that was dull (as in too neutral)? I have a GTi currently and that is very neutral. Dull engine tone, easy chassis, it doesn't really excite if that makes sense. I was hoping the AMG with 300ish horsepower and a bit more "lively" exhaust sound may fit the bill. I'll certainly test drive one first.
