Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

Hey. :) I like the look of them for sure, but yes not yet test drove. Was it the drive that was dull (as in too neutral)? I have a GTi currently and that is very neutral. Dull engine tone, easy chassis, it doesn't really excite if that makes sense. I was hoping the AMG with 300ish horsepower and a bit more "lively" exhaust sound may fit the bill. I'll certainly test drive one first.

Terrible exhaust note, dull drive. Literally the antithesis of "exciting". The only good thing was the ambient led lighting lol.

Oh lol that's not too good. How's the bigger A45 as a driving experience - would you know? I'd have to drop to potentially the 2018 model for the money. I'll have to read up on A35 v A45 differences. Obviously power is the first thing I can see.

I have a 2016 A45 Stage 1, that car is a world better in terms of excitement and speed. It does not have the infotainment system or comfort of the A35, but its certainly better than an A35.

A45 S is also worth considering, interior is lovely, exhaust note not as good but a lovely car.

Lovely thanks, looks like I've got some research to do then and some YouTube videos to watch. :)

Just taken delivery of this, first Merc I've owned in years having had several BMW's. Also first petrol since my Ford Fiesta back in 2000.

Looks great. Its nice having throttle response once you change back from diesel to petrol.

I was rear ended by a Range Rover Evoque yesterday. Turns out he was driving his girlfriends car uninsured!
Alarm bells rang when he admitted liability and asked me to say it was his girlfriend driving IN A TEXT! So he's been reported, fool.

Boot won't close as the rear beam bit has shifted 15-20mm into the bot space. You can make out the creases in a couple of the pics.
I didn't expect the damage to be as bad as this, any ideas on the severity and cost wise?

That's going to be an expensive repair for you :(

Ouch. Hope it gets sorted. Glad you reported the idiot.

I'm pleased my wife and dog are fine, could have been worse, it's a bit of metal at the end of the day.

I'm more irritated by all the time i've lost today faffing around, i'm not getting a hire car now which annoys me the most.

Aviva are now handling it and they and the police have the evidence of his fraudulent attempt to claim from the mutual insurer (he was driving GF car who was covered by Aviva). I don't see how he's not covered at least 3rd party under her policy....

They will seek to claim from him the losses directly so thats an expensive lesson for him.

Aviva won't sanction a hire car at their cost if they have to try and then recover the monies from an uninsured driver.

I should have anticipated the driver in front breaking harder than I expected them to, however I didn't want to stamp on the brakes on the bend and be more progressive with the braking, fact is my car stopped and the guy behind was far too close, I'd already clocked him further back thinking he was too close for comfort.

Aware I could have done better though.

He'll only be covered third party if he has his own comprehensive policy on a different car that includes third party cover

I don't think there appears to be any issue with your driving. It was difficult to see the width restriction due to parked cars and it's not like you slammed on the brakes and her immediately hit you, there is a delay before the crash where he appears not to have realised that you had come to a halt.
