Metal Gear Solid Games

Do it 3, 1 then 2 for chronological goodness

For true Chronological goodness play them MGS: PO, then 3, 1, 2

3 is absolutly stonking, and with subsistance and the move to 3rd person camera in that is great :D

I just loved 3. But asmuch as i loved 1, you would probably be better of with TTS on the gamecube, takes some nice moves out of 2 and puts them into the game of MGS.

The first MGS is my favourite, but the other 2 are great aswell.

I hope one day they'll remake the original 2 Metal Gear games (the old MSX ones). They would have to be changed a lot though to bring them up to date and make the story fit in with the MGS games.

this is the average % score for each game from loads and loads of reviews on gamerankings, i no reviews dont mean much, its what you like that counts but meh ill post em anyway.

MGS1 on PS1: 92.7%
MGS2 on PS2: 94.8%
MGS3 on PS2: 91.6% (or 93.2% if you include subsistence, but they are the exact same game except for added content.)

So they are all pretty close, all great games i guess :p

1 > 3 > 2

Two really wasn't very good at all, the story just wasn't as interesting and the crappy oil rig (or whatever it was) environment was dull :(

1 and 3 are definately in my all time top 20 though :)

anyone know how 1 2 and 3 work on the PS3? I really want to play them all again.

If not, does 1 work on the PS2? And will it save ok?

1 works on the PS2 but iirc it wont get past the end credits, so you wont get the unlockables for completing the game, but you can actually finish the full game if you want. Also you would need a PS memory card.

I agree with your order but I'm playing all the MGS games again atm and I'm halfway into MGS2 and it is a lot better than I thought it was. So I think I was maybe just been a bit too harsh on MGS2 at the time because I didn't get to play as Solid Snake. If you've not played it in a while I'd suggest replaying it I think you'll enjoy it a lot more.

MGS1.

Word.

Thing is 1 had an amazing, epic story that ended on the right note. They introduced a lot of unnecesary rubbish into the other ones.

Although 3 was very good, the most rescent one I enjoyed was Twin Snakes. Shame about changing Grey Fox's voice though.

See if you can get MGS on the PC it looks a lot better. I'm playing 2 on my PS3 atm and it looks great, and it deffo works up till findings Ames as thats as far as I am, I hope the whole game works or I am going to be annoyed :p

Masses of swearies in that Reeves. Funny though.
yeah its a while since i watched them both, never realised how much bad language they had in them, the second one will have to be searched for as its not on the main flash page.

i presume its still ok to link to newgrounds like that

There is one moment in all of the metal gears that just makes me :D so much

that part in 2 where snake is in handcuffs and ray is about to jump off arsenal
snake struggles to stand then rips the handcuffs apart and dives into the sea with ray in one of the most cinematic and cool moments of all entertainment

its my favourtie part of anything ever

it just shows you how pro solid snake really is

"Liquid!...stop this thing!"

urgh!

I absolutely love the Metal Gear Solid games. Great cinematography, music and characters even if some of them are a bit out of whack ;) Also very keen to see how MGS4 plays.

ok ill try that, are the controls etc ok though? And i have Vista plus a widescreen monitor which might be a problem.

Just tried it and it's working perfectly. Can't seem to get it past 1024 x 768 but it's retained all it's former glory :D

There might be a hack for higher resolutions but I've just had a quick glance at the configs and can't see anything obvious.

The thing I think makes 2 more cinematic is...Raiden

not the character Raiden, but playing it from his viewpoint. You get to see snake from an outsiders view. You can see just how calm, collected and professional this man is. He really is thee greatest soldier of all time. Everything about him just reeks of awesomeness, he is everything all action heroes aspire to be without seeming too unrealistic and over the top. He has real emotions, thoughts and feelings. He learns throughout his battles and philosophises.

Hideo Kojima is a god when it comes to story telling and characterisation. He creates the perfect blend of gameplay and cinematography. Metal Gear Solid is everything video game entertainment should strive to be, it is the pinnacle of multimedia entertainment.

Metal Gear Solid 4 WILL be the greatest game of all time.
