Just thought about making a thread to discuss all the MGS games including MGS4 etc.

IMO they are all great games, but 2 just tops it for me, 1 and 3 were both very good aswell, apprently there were very old ones years ago on the snes and stuff aswell.

Anyway looking forward to MGS4!

2 was probably the one I least enjoyed, I actually played through one and 3 again recently and really enjoy 3. I think everything about it is better than the previous 2.

I think Big Boss brings a certain depth to the story that was lacking in the other 2.
 
yeah the originals were all about snake and big boss as far as i remember. never really played them properly

metal gear: snakes revenge spring to mind :)

my all time fav is definalty metal gear solid on the PSX. just a fantastic story line, great characters, awesome battles and music...not forgetting a solid snake thats not an old man, sporting the mullet of all mullets that even Pat Sharp would be embarrased to wear and also the serious lack of camp raiden (anythin without raiden in is a score in my book lol) :D

I dont know, theres just something about 2 that i really like, the story is so complex, you need to play through it 4-5 times to understand it, but i just think the whole atmosphere and feel (plus an awesome main theme song) of the game was great, but like i said they are all very good.
 
1 and 3 where by far the best.
Didn't enjoy playing as that thong wearing nancy boy beckham wanna be raiden neither i did lol
You get the original metal Gear games with MGS3: Subsistance. ;)
 
Yeah 2 does have the epic factor that 3 sort of misses.

It just feels so cinematic. I think the music has a large part in it, but the camera angles/directing of the cut scenes is also amazing.

Yeah thats definatly what i feel, 3 may have been a better game at core gameplay, but 2 is better for the reasons you have stated.
 
I played it all the way through in one go one night and the GF didn't get broed at all, just sat watching me. She said it was dead interesting and that they should make a film :cool: They better bring that out soon. The trailers and cut-scenes for MGS4 are amazing, someone in their directing team/maybe Hideo himself is really itching to make a movie. Actually Hideo is really in to movies so hopefully he'll get his ass in gear (wow pun!) and make it.
 
Never played 3 (sold my ps2 by then) but got 3 on release date and loved it!

must have played it through 10 times.
 
3 was probably my favourite!

Loved how long it was and how action packed it was, Also loved the long cinematics.

2 was probably my least as Raiden sucked, still a very good game which i enjoyed thoroughly.

Cant wait for 4.

MGS1 on the psone is the only is the only one that does it for me. I found 2 to be way too similar, pretty much just MSG1 with better graphics, very disappointing as I was expecting so much more.

Only really played the very beginning of 3 and never had much time to sit down and play it. Given the chance i'd still go back and play 1 though! There's just something about it, the way the atmosphere was built up and well thought about, probably helped being a bit younger then too.

Would you recommend 3 as I enjoyed 1 so much?

haha yeah, when you wake up and shes getting changed, i laughed at that moment.


One thing i am going to do is play 1 2 and 3 through in a couple of days, that should be cool lol.

yeah i suppose that would be better, havent played 1 in agggess though.

I remember spending hours in the caves where the wovles were the very first time i played it as i couldn't find the bit that you had to crawl through haha :D
 
I remember buying my surround sound for this. When I heard that movie in full Dolby Digital 5.1 I creamed my pants.

:edit: 2 gives me that feeling you get when you watch a really really good bit in a movie or hear some brilliant music and the hairs on your arms stand up and you get a tingle down your spine. I really really love that feeling.
