Metal Gear Solid. The Phantom pain.

I wouldn't be suprised if they crawl on their hands and knees to Kojima asking him to comeback for more.

^this, Konami need Kojima, he doesn't need them. I sincerely hope there is another game or even a chapter 3 for Phantom Pain (though MGS has never had DLC as far as I can remember)

Is there any chance Kojima could work with a different studio perhaps? Would another studio be willing to challenge Konami for the MGS rights or licence? Would Konami even consider taking Kojima back on board or giving him the required personnel to develop a further game? So many questions unanswered and I doubt we'll have answers til at least 2017.

I would love to see another game or a polished version of this one (not reached chapter two but read most of the spoilers around here).

Also people are moaning about buying the game for £30/£35 after seeing 10/10 reviews but lets not forget most of these reviews were published 48 hours before the game was released and I doubt any of the critics/reviewers had actually exploited the game fully - most even come with a caveat that it is a 'rolling' review these days.

In all honesty I can't think of another game of this quality that would have been sub £35 within 48 hours after release. I waited and picked it up for £34 from a key selling site as I generally do with all games now instead of the steam launch price but £30/£35 for a game of this quality and cross port optimisation, coupled with the level of effort in production is hardly grounds to whinge at IMHO.

I can't see any other game hitting the 'shelves' with the quality, x-port optimisation and gameplay in the near future with the exception of maybe Fallout 4 and possibly (plus a lot more possibly's) Battlefront and Rainbow Six

The completion % is misleading, I did almost every single side op and every single mission and I was at 50%. a lot of the overall completion % is tied up in collectables like cassette tapes, key items, animals, mission rankings, emblem pieces, weapons developed ETC.

From what I've read 50% is very high for somebody who's completed the story too, a lot of people complete the main storyline around 30-40%.

The game is great, I spent the full £45 and don't regret it as 60 hours isn't bad gametime and the gameplay is great, I just regret carrying on the story past chapter 1, even though the only part of the entire story that effected me was mission 45 in chapter 2. The story as a whole has left such a sour taste in my mouth though, that I can't face going back to replay throughor 100% the game, it just feels... empty now... Despite the fact I would like to as the gameplay is really quite something else.

Lol, clearly have no idea what Konami makes their money on.

They are cutting back on their videogame business and MGS had to cease as by the looks of it took way too long.

Regardless, the overall story is a jumbled mess and the series took itself way too seriously for the fan-service that was metted out in buckets, Kojima should move on.

There is this weird rush you get when its an extraction mission and you sort of cheese it.

I had to extract two medical staff, counted out the area and it seemed like they were about to escort one of the staff by car to another location. I quickly lobbed a grenade from the shadows at the jeep before they got back there, which alerted the whole (heavily armed) camp. But while they were distracted looking for where the grenade came from and reinforcements swarmed in, I managed to sneak around and grab both hostages. You couldn't fulton, so whistled for D-horse, put one on there and the other on my shoulder and ran the 450m back to the helicopter extraction.

That was all planned on the fly in the spur of the moment, and it worked. How anyone doesn't find this game interesting and varied is beyond me.

just saw the mission + cutscenes that was cut from the game maybe there was others too that aren't known publicly but I guess that just confirms the game was rushed

Yeah i watched those on youtube too. I think they were cut because of the fallout with Hideo and konami, we may of gotten so much more if he had time to finish it properly i feel

Starting to get into this game finally after 3-4 hours :)

I still prefer my old MGS games, but this is not as bad as I initially thought it was. Would love if they could bring the old MGS games to PC.

I've been meaning to play MGS 4 for about 4 years, is it the best one? I'm thinking play that, play MGS Ground Zero before this, when I decide to have my MGS period.

I guess if you want to play them in order play mgs3 ,peace walker , ground zero + phantom pain , mg1 , mg2 and mgs4 you can play them all on a emulator apart from mgs4

Yes the gameplay is amazing and you can do whatever you want, which is brilliant, but the missions are very repetitive. They are just extract prisoner/Kill some guy etc, that has some small bit of info that supposedly advances the story but doesn't. Most of the missions are indistinguishable from the free roam game tbh...Out of the 40 missions, I could maybe remember about 5, if that.

The classification of missions is way off. Extracting an unnamed mechanic, who doesn't even have a name, and who doesn't speak at all is dressed up as a main mission, whereas some side Ops actually do advance the story and feature real characters.

I have fond memories of MGS 2. In my head the order is something like 2, 1, 3, 4.

I actually do not remember too much about the story line of 4, which usually means I did not enjoy it as much, I remember a lot more about 3 compared to 4.

It is unfair to rate them tbh, considering the time that passed between releases, but the first MGS and 3 are 2 of the best games ever made imo. 2 is ok if you are a fan but is honestly kind of garbage if I'm honest. 4 has good gameplay, but the cutsenes annoy some people.

One word, six letters, begins with R.

Seriously though, the dialogue in 2 is the worst it has been. I still like it, hell I have played it probably 5 times, but only because I am a massive MG fan. It is easily the weakest of the series imo...including every game except the card ones.

That is one confusing statement. You say MGS 2 is one of the best games ever made in your opinion, then you go on to say it is garbage?:rolleyes::p
