Metal Gear Solid. The Phantom pain.

Loving the game, so far at mission 23 :)

Been speaking to my friend a lot who informed me that oen fo the items that was going to be in game but didnt make it was Guard Dogs.

This would have been great as I have to admit its far too easy to infiltrate.

Maybe one day we might get game Kojima wanted however I doubt it.

Roll on MGS 6

I find I can only enjoy this game in controlled sessions - like doing 1 mission and 2 side ops at a time. Only onto Mission 6 but played enough of the game to have a good feel for it (9 hours in).

Some things I dislike, and dearly hope will improve as the game goes on:
- Repetitive nature of missions i.e. same set of actions (although maybe it is up to me to mix it up)
- Mother Base management: can I not just automate this?
- Collectathon mentality. I HATE collecting [x] resources in games. It detracts from the pure gameplay and eats up valuable time. I know, its open-world and so on but still...
- Story so far: not too coherent and definitely not up to previous entries in the series

Anyone who has played further than me have any input?

EDIT: Saw the post about "realism mode" - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=28607845&postcount=1176. I think I will definitely be turning markers off and most of the other suggestions as it seems to enhance the overall experience greatly.

You wont regret it, the atmosphere and even gameplay are ten times better without the markers. CHecking corners, walking from cover to cover rather than being in constant all seeing god mode - it transforms the whole experience imho.

Only recently heard of this. I've heard it's the best stealth game ever but also lots of minor annoyances on PC. What's the verdict?

I've been looking for a good stealth game since deus ex:HR.

So I stumbled across Quiet yesterday, was driving around in a jeep when she shot me. Cue epic sniper battle that was made a lot easier with D-Dog barking to spot her so much :p

How many missions is it until I get to use her as a buddy?

I've discovered that having a rocket launcher as my secondary weapon is a bad move. Since equipping it I've tried to shoot down 3 gunships and all of them resulted in me being swarmed by men on those weird segway robot things.

Back to stealth me thinks..

If you happen to like tin foil hats, I recommend you check out the "Never Be Game Over" sub-reddit :p There's some pretty crazy conspiracies surrounding cut-content, etc. As you probably know by now the game just comes abruptly to a stop without any real satisfying conclusion, with all loose ends tied up nicely (some are left glaringly wide open, Eli...) Some of the more recent revelations include data-mining the companion app for mobiles to reveal some secret content. Some of the biggest discoveries thus far include finding a title card for "Chapter 3 - Peace", and 2 extra endings (they can be unlocked in game somehow, they related to building or disarming nukes, part of a larger community effort supposedly...) But there's also people suggesting that MGS"V" is just a side-game, and the real MGS"5" is coming soon, and that the game was developed by "a phantom studio" :p

Just finish the mission and you find out...

Also a new update on PC today, ahead of the DLC update tomorrow. As with the previous update, this breaks a few mods. However it didn't seem to add anything, just changed a few lines of code. It did remove the Golden Arm item and made the Sniper Wolf outfit disappear too, unless it was in use. A lot of folks are pushing rumours that the Golden Arm was taken away to be re-released as paid DLC. I hope not.

Well they've taken her away for questioning or w/e after landing at motherbase. I never actually got the mission to go find her
