Mexican Grand Prix 2015, Mexico City - Race 17/19

Nothing had to cross the track there. Yes the truck was required but the VSC was introduced in the wake of that exact scenario with Bianchi.

I'm not saying thats why they have an SC now, just saying that's the general reason to have an SC over a VSC, to bunch the field up to create a large gap in traffic.

No, its not Rosberg or Hamilton related, its just why does one have to wait for the other.

Is that too complex for you to understand?

They should come in as soion as they feel the car getting slower, i.e racing to there maximum potential.

The problem is that they'd each try to stop a lap earlier than the other to try to undercut. This would result in a game of chicken between the drivers which would very likely result in them both stopping far too soon and compromising both their races and possibly losing the team places/points.

If they're on the same strategy then giving the lead driver first refusal makes sense. If they're on different strategies, or one elects to swap strategies then they should be able to - for example if Lewis had suddenly decided he wanted to switch to a two-stop (at the time only one was planned of course) and thus wanted to stop earlier then that should have been allowed. The lead driver should be allowed to dictate the other driver's overall stop strategy.

If Hamilton refused to pit and then pit under safety car, would the 18 seconds have been enough? Remember Rosberg would be under slower conditions and so that 18 seconds would be muchh more.

Then Hamilton could have said, no need to worry about safety issues. He'd have track position and fresher tyres :D

Rosberg was 1 second up in sector 1 alone. Once rosberg pitted Hamilton staying out was the wrong call (without a crystal ball to know about the SC)

How ever you totaly missed the point. Ros wouldn't have pitted either. Hr didn't need new tyres it was team call to pit both cars.

We know that. But once Rosberg had pitted he could have gone against the team.

Admittedly Hamilton wouldn't do that to a team that helped him get at least 2 x WDC. But he could have.

Because that would be good for hamm wouldn"t it. He's won wdc, team could just hold him at pits for rest of season. Its a stupid idea.

After what the team did to him at Monaco, would have been poetic justice.

Well he did refuse initially. He obviously saw Rosberg go into the pits.

He knew in his head that if they had pitted Rosberg for safety reasons and wanted to the same for Hamilton, it was unfair to refuse to pit.

Was even bold enough to ask them to check Rosberg's tyres.
