Mexican Grand Prix 2015, Mexico City - Race 17/19

Something stinks at Mercedes, Williams have been out an age on their mediums (since lap 9?).

It's perfectly clear what's happened. They wanted to play it safe and could pit both cars without losing position to Kvyat. There definitely was a chance the tyres would have lasted and Lewis obviously wanted to try it but, having pitted Rosberg, if Hamilton had stayed out and won then Rosberg would probably have gone nuclear so the team basically ordered Lewis to stop.

If I was Lewis I'd have told them to shove it and tried to make it to the end.

What context? Pit both drivers because you have a 30 second lead. It's as simple as that.

It was optimal for Hamilton to stay out till the end of the race.

You said it wasn't because Rosberg would make that 18 seconds up. Now you are switching arguments.

I understand completely why Mercedes pit both drivers.
