Sainz isn't a backmarker and he was 13 seconds behind him, he's also gaining on Vettel. He was 23 seconds behind Vettel after Sainz pitted, he's now about 19-20 seconds behind.

What advantage is there to Vettel in deliberately doing that with a fragile part of his car? None. He needed to win.

Really, think about it, Hamilton finishes in top 5, title over. Vettel winning makes no difference if Hamilton is top 5. Here you can pit and have similar pace over an entire race. When everyone pits Vettel will be in the hunt and Hamilton will be ~20 seconds behind him. This situation, a chance to do well later in the race with Hamilton way behind him is FAR better than Verstappen, Hamilton, Vettel, which was the alternative.

Do you seriously think it was deliberate?

Vettel had already lost part of his wing with Verstappen, chances are his pace would have been poor or he'd have had to pit and Hamilton was ahead of him anyway. It's hardly conspiracy just standard Schumacher type stuff.
