Here's a hint, in the last 3 laps you don't get a penalty, he wasn't told to give the position back, he didn't ignore the teams orders, they said they THINK he WILL have to give it back, not do it immediately. IF the stewards told RBR he had to give the position back he'd have 3 laps to do it, which is why that penalty isn't given in the final 3 laps and instead they review it after the race and give a 5 second penalty.

Arrogant little ****..... because you don't know the rules and don't know what you're talking about... sure, he's the arrogant one.

im sure his race engineer said something alone the lines of come on max we are going to have to give that place back... in other words... give the place back... they knew it was a slam dunk penalty.

Exactly.

Vettel did go ridiculously over the top though. Yes he was right to feel very aggrieved and I believe the move on Ricciardo was a case of the red mist descending because he felt he shouldn't have been in that position to start with.

That said, telling Charlie to **** off is going to come back to bit him hard. He's always been a stroppy so and so, even when he was winning with Red Bull.

I'm pretty sure Max's engineer said "I think we'll have to give the place back". If I was Verstappen, I'd have told him to go and find out for sure, and get back to me, not to make guesses about it.

I don't see Vettel moving very much under braking. I don't really see how he gained an advantage over Ricciardo. He didn't block him.

haha now max saying because lewis cut the corner with no penalty incurred it made sense for him not to receive one. brilliant. just brilliant :D

Quite. Everyone knows far more lattitude is granted on the first lap due to general chaos. He also went on about him and Rosberg in turn two, conveniently ignoring the fact that he physically pushed Rosberg wide.

Well I rated it 7 just because of the stuff at the end.

I don't think Max should have got a penalty, he was in front so Vettell didn't deserve the place.

I do appear to be in the minority though.

I don't like it when drivers beg to be let in front, if you can just get on with it.

10 - 8 to Hamilton in poles but 9 - 8 to Rosberg in race wins.

I think to avoid controversy Rosberg needs to win one of these final 2 races.

Give me strength. Whether Vettel was alonside or in front is totally irrelevant. Max locked up and didn't make the corner. Had he returned to the track before turn two rather than cutting it, he'd have lost position. Therefore he maintained position by cutting the corner. Open and shut case.

and? if he let Vettel by Ricciardo would have gotten him too so what was it worth?

Worst case scenario, he gets a 5 second penalty, loses both places, that pretty much matches just giving the position back. Actual scenario, he got that 5 second penalty, lost both places but gave his team mate a great chance to get 3rd, which IMHO he should have as Vettel should have been penalised for clearly moving under braking.

Best case scenario... he keeps his third and doesn't receive a penalty. IF anyone says they'd give up the place automatically before a penalty was applied, well, you wouldn't be a racing driving. I couldn't name a driver that would see Hamilton and Rosberg not get a penalty and give up a podium place without being given a penalty. Giving up the place meant 0% chance of 3rd, not giving up the place gave him a 50/50 chance of 3rd place.

Having seen Hamilton and Rosberg do it and get no penalty there is no driver on the grid who would give up that position in the same situation, not one.

I reckon he has a chance in Brazil. I agree though, it will just show how undeserving he is and that Hamilton let him win these at the end of last season. Hamilton would have this in the bag if not for that last engine. Doubt he is that fussed though tbh.

There will be controversy whatever happens now really. Hamilton's car relability has cost him this championship

It will do Rosberg good to win the last two. If he doesn't it will be an awkward title but then that is F1
