Microsoft Band

It shipped today!!! :D So should have it to play with this week!!!

What tweaks should I do to get the best out of it with my Lumia 830 (Windows 10 10586-1511)???
 
How does the material of the Band 2 compare to the Band1, sent mine back as it seemed soft and scratched pretty easily..

Pimp my band,
You can put custom backgrounds on it, colours, also it has a handy live tile for you phone that tell you the battery level.

Band Sensor monitor, records and displays everything you Band is recording in real time.

seems alright the brushed clasp on mine has a slight mark, just like a brushed watch can get

the rubber and glass seem very good so far
 
Don't regret the purchase of the Band 2, even though I have an iPhone so can't use Cortana stuff with it (yet).

Only thing I don't like is the lacklustre options for sharing your activity data to FaceBook. RunKeeper has a better way of doing it. But it's a minor issue and probably saves my contacts from seeing lots of exercise related spam!
 
I'm finding the sleep function a bit depressing. Have been travelling and getting essentially no deep sleep. Having my phone present that in pretty charts isn't necessarily helping me!

Got my Band now!! quite happy with it!

It sort of works with Windows 10 (10586) but I'm getting some weird errors!

1) Not all emails are syncing, it's syncing both of my accounts, but random emails, not all of them! (which with all this Black Friday guff I'm a bit glad for!)

2) I can't get it to sync Text Messages... I think it might be because of the new Text app in 10586 (Text and Skype)

3) When using the Manage Tiles bit in the Health app it crashed with an 'oops an unknown error...' message - This turned out (after some googling) to be the Calendar tile! which sort of explained...

4) The Calendar tile would not sync! :D Removed the tile from the Manage Tiles and all went nicely!!

5) Dunno about thr Phone tile, or Facebook, Twitter etc... but as my phone is always to hand this function is by the by... I bought the Band for Fitness tracking!!!

Lastly I can't get 'Pimp my Band' to upload a wallpaper! it keeps throwing an error message about Windows 10 TP not being compatible!! :(

Otherwise, it's all great so far!!! :cool:

That's weird, I did mine the other night and it synced fine.

Of course maybe mine works as it was from a previous install?
At the moment might be hard to tell what is the Windows 10 preview problems and what are band problems.
 
I'm happy with it really! Don't need a fancy wallpaper in the background!

Found out the Phone notifications work!! :) so really happy there as I keep missing calls on my 830... my Boss doesn't like loud phones in the office, so the ringer is on 5 and the vibrate is sooo weak!!! now my wrist vibrates to let me know!! :D
 
I really want a band 2. My wife has one and raves about it. However, I have the sort of manual job whereby I'd probably be knocking it all the time. Do any builders have one and how do you manage?
 
I have purchased a band 1, sometimes notifications work, other times not, emails texts and calls will always come through, calendar seems to be full one minute empty the next. Sleep part works well though, slightly disapointed if im honest.
 
Got my Band 2 after getting a hand-on for a few hours at a Microsoft event this week. Have to say, really enjoying it and provides better information than my FitBit Charge HR ever did.
 
I picked one up at 169.99 seems about right I think, £200 was a bit steep for it imho. Hope it works well enough on iOS, I have a Lumia 930 I can use it on if I have to. But iOS is just so much better than widows phone at the moment, the only thing I prefer about windows phone is the live tiles sadly.
 
Rolled my Lumia 830 back to 8.1.2 and now all notifications work as they are supposed to!!!

Also got my Screen protector... easy to fit, no bubbles or streaks!!! very happy... just wish it had arrived a day sooner, as I managed to get a small scratch on the bottom edge of the screen when at Brick (Lego Expo) last week!!!

Still debating weather to now upgrade my 830 to the latest Win10 again to see if all the settings/notifications still work!!
