Microsoft Band

Couple of quick questions:

How does the Band 2 do with heart rate monitoring?

What happens when you are out of range of your phone? I'm not allowed a phone on me at work so might be pointless?

Heads up it's £149.99 on lightening deal on the rain forest today.

I am enjoying mine, though I have to say glad I brought this over the Apple watch, notifications on the wrist really are not that useful 99% of the time and considering in winter you can't easily see your wrist under a jacket etc it make even less sense. The tracking stuff is nice as is the sleep side, the smart alarm is rather cool. When I go to NZ and OZ in Feb the UV thing might be useful, not much good here in the UK at the moment!

Are all the features for the Band2 available for iOS?

Mostly, except for replying with pre written text messages when you get a text notification and Cortana specific stuff.

I haven't felt crippled using it with an iPhone. I would never use the quick reply feature anyway. I was worried they'd not allow you to change music tracks when using an iPhone but it now works and is a great feature.

I was tempted to buy one yesterday but the Microsoft Store was out of stock and it's back to £199 on Amazon :(. I missed the lightning deals that had them at £149.

Not sure on Band 2 specifics, I have a Band 1 and when it's out of range with my phone it's just keeps recording, until you get back in range, then it syncs all the data! :)

Just like at night when you monitor your sleeping, it disconnects its self from the Bluetooth so you don't get any notifications (which might wake you up) and when you 'Wake Up' it reconnects and syncs! :)

Just a quick question...

I'm thinking about re-installing/updating to the latest Windows 10 on my Lumia 830 again!

Really liked Win10, and 8.1.2 is a little bit of a let down! I only downgraded as my Band 1 wasn't syncing any of my notifications (Text or Calendar, even one of my email accounts!). I think it's because I got my Band 1 and synced it straight onto my 830 after it'd been running Windows 10 for some time!!

Is there anyone out there with a Band 1 that upgraded their phone to Windows 10 AFTER having the Band successfully synced under Windows 8.1??

Had a quick look at the band2 when I was in NYC, much nicer than the band 1 tbh, might get one now..

Even at £50 I wouldn't buy one, it's to floored. If it fell to £20 I would get one purely to have a play with, be a waste of money but hey ho.

I tried to get the band2 on my wrist in currys, which was difficult with all the security stuff.

Within a second or two of having both the green LED in contact with the top of my wrist, and the pins on the underside, it gave me my heart rate. I was astonished it was so quick.

Anyone know if that was a fluke or if it really is that good? Is it accurate?

Neat.

Does it still do the basics like display time as well? :)

I love being able to check mails, messages etc. at a glance on the bottom of my wrist. Very handy when it is inappropriate to get my phone out or just want a quick check.

Well loving the Band 2 but mine has already developed a fault. After fully running out of battery I charged it on my usual USB port and it told me to reset the time and date. I did so and left it for an hour. Came back and it hadn't charged at all.

After many attempts I've given up. It keeps reporting no charge even though it seems to briefly charge and then give up. Have tried cleaning the charging pins to no avail. So it's a return to Microsoft and apparently if they verify the fault a straight exchange for new one.

Bit let down by this really but hopefully won't happen with next one.
