Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced.

Fuel selector should be set to 'both' before starting the engine. Apparently setting it to either left or right tank is part of the shut down sequence, guess it isolates them for some reason.

I posted a bug saying it should be included in the auto-start. Don't expect it'll get any attention very soon.

Thanks, this must have been it. Shame, was very close to the end of the flight too. :(

Just pulled £100k in a single mission, my highest yet.

I checked my plane and it says flight controls to maintain, with a yellow indicator.

I dunno wether this needs doing asap or you wait for it to go red or something, it wants 65k to sort it out which feels like a lot of cash.

Oh as a tip, dont do the special scientific flight seeing mission in west USA like over Nevada to spot a Tornado.

The mission is bugged, you cannot complete it, when you land the game crashes and when you log back in it resets your reputation to C - dont say I didnt warn you.

also, spoiler alert but DAMN this landing was hard.

Medium Cargo special mission from Tokyo to Miyake - there is some REALLY evil cross wind on landing sends you plane all over the place, not gonna lie, took me several attempts

The game is good but also so frustrating mostly because of bugs.

Free flight is ok, but the way pointing in career mode needs fixing. Often with the default flight plan it'll get stuck, and even if you land at the destination you can't finish the mission.

Sometimes if you override the default flight plan with your own that'll work, and sometimes that'll do the opposite.

Had a few failures, skip to parking area, do that and my plane spawns and flips over...150k bill. Can't complete the mission, abort the mission, 150k repair bill... even though it was landed and perfectly fine.

And it's frustrating you can't change how much fuel you have, no matter what you try and do either through the EFB or management screen your Cessna will start with a third of a tank, which gives you about 100/120nm max depending on wind.

But if you find yourself running out, simply skip to decent and by magic you didn't run out of fuel......

You get good money running freelance, but it just feels like one step forwards two steps back with the unpreventable mission failures.

I found a cheat/workaround for the fuel thing, if you assign a shortcut to "add fuel quantity" just press that and it'll add 25% fuel to your tank.

You can actually do it whilst flying, but if you want to try and keep the immersion just do it whilst landed at the parking area.

The fuel truck doesn't work either FYI.

Another thing (apologies if this has already been mentioned).

This is also sort of a spoiler, but imo the devs spoil the game for you a bit so I'm gonna put it here.

Basically once you pass your IFR certification, every single mission, almost without fail, will give you really nasty weather, the visibility isnt the issue as such, it just it gives you 30kt+ winds, basically every time, with up to 60kt gusts on final. You're little Cessna isn't really up for that, and I reckon in real life they simply wouldn't fly it. I'm guessing the devs assumed you would have moved on to a more capable aircraft by the time you get to this certification.

Now I could.....most of the time, still make the landing, but its damn tricky. You have to come in sideways if its a cross wind, then full rudder when you touch down, but its not easy. There was one landing in Scotland and I crash the landing, I made it down but I could not turn on the ground without the plane flipping, and went off into the trees, and not being funny but that little Cessna was being buffeted around, yawing and pitching about 30 degrees in all directions, I would say even the most skilled of pilots would have struggled. Thats then a 150k repair bill.

Anyway, this is lift from the official MSFS24 forums and just tested it and it works. You will loose your bad weather bonus though.

Step 0: have MSFS2024 started, in Career mode, with the mission select world map open.
Step 1: make sure Live Weather is enabled under Options → General → Online.
Step 2: on the world map, click on a mission you wanna fly.
Step 3: immediately after the very first mission overview screen pops up (the one with briefing and mission schedule on the left side of the screen), go back to Options → General → Online, and switch off Live Weather.
Step 4: start up your mission as usual.

(do not skip step 1)

Anyone using the X56 throttle and stick? Quite fancying that plus a couple of desk mounts. That or the T16000M?

I think I’ve settled on the X56 plus a couple of preassembled desk mounts. The thrust master warthog was tempting, especially since it looks pretty neat off its base plate and mounted independently, but not sure I want to pay too much more.

I'm sure it'll be great, I'm using a 15 year old Hotas X and I get on fine with it.

Thanks, ordered! Should be a good addition to my setup.

Managed to buy myself a Cirrus G2, ohhhhh its soooooooooo much better than the Cessna 172.

Pulled 221k on my first run with it.

Reckon I'll start saving up for a Pilatus PC-24, looks like a very nice jet. 6.3m though.......

Is this like some kind of career mode?

Might be worth a little caution with that plan. Seen several reports on the official forum of people buying this and other similarly expensive aircraft before discovering they can't do any missions with them.

I unlocked the helicopter search and rescue missions yesterday. Quite keen to do more but that H125 is absolutely dreadful to fly with no trim control. Will see what their intended fix is like after the next patch, but wish I was more optimistic.

Ok cheers

Looks like the PC-24 has bugged landing gear that doesn't retract, patch 3 is supposedly going to fix the issue. Apparently a lot of the cockpit controls don't work either although I don't know how essential that is.

I've not tried helicopters at all yet, if I'm honest I'm not planning to anytime soon.

Yea the weather thing is frustrating, you can either use the "hack" to get completely still, perfectly clear weather which does get a little boring, or it's horrendous borderline hurricane.

I don't think it's even using live weather in most missions either, like some pre set conditions.

Something in between would be nice.
