Waaaay too much red wine at the moment, nearly two bottles of the stuff so not reading well right now but will update thread with info when I recover.lay-z-boy said:where are all these tweaks, dual core etc.?
I can believe it too. I've got a feeling that DX9 is 'compatibility mode' and the core of the code was written for DX10. The fact my CPU is spanked yet little else is being hit leads me to think this is by design. I'm sure in time a no doubt huge update will be released purely for DX9 performance.Concorde Rules said:Vista and DX10, im convinced MS and shafted the DX9 performance. I can't be getting 10 FPS if my GPU is 50C, thats like 60% performance
spinneR~uk said:As for dual core, there are two things you can do.
1) Go to Control Panel / Power Options and ensure that it's not set to Minimal Power Management.
2) During flight in FSX, ALT-TAB out to the desktop, CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Task Manager, click the Processes tab, right-click fsx.exe, select Set Affinity, ensure both cores are selected.
You may have to restart the computer. Also, good luck ALT-TAB'ing back into the game. I ended up closing FSX in Task Manager then restarting.
If anyone comes up with a magic 'cure' that gives some decent FPS then please keep us all posted in this thread. I think we get the message about DX10 being needed but let's keep this thread on topic and focused on getting as much performance out of DX9 as possible.
The main thing is to make sure that both cores in Task Manager are evenly hit when in flight.Concorde Rules said:Bah, that does **** all here
After spending hours optimising the tweaks and settings, I had the slider set to unlimited and it run OK. When setting it back down to say, 25FPS, it started to stutter. I was led to believe that setting a frame rate target causes the application to think about what it has to sacrifice in order to reach it. I guess is isn't well optimised yet.redline said:NOT to set the target frame rate to just above the min your happy with (say 25fps) but to set to unlimited.
To get that kind of detail you need the photo realistic addon scenery such as the superb VFR GenX that I've got running on this one. It's actually faster than default scenery because you don't need autogen and scenery complexity selected with it. I actually get a solid 30fps.Agent_matt said:Nice piccies spinneR~uk. I didn't think there was that kind of details in FSx at the moment. Well....I knew there was but didn't think anyone was able to run it. How does it fair up on your system?
Correct. I tried to get a wider shot and include the pier but when flying over Brighton I was doing a lot of correcting on the controls because of turbulence so grabbing screenshots was a bit tricky.Agent_matt said:In the Brighton picture would I be right noting the structure in the bottom right to be the Palace Pier?
